Roomian Research continues testing Internet banks claiming to be the most efficient of those operating in Ukraine today. This time we will consider Internet banking called "PUMB Online" from the First Ukrainian International Bank.
« PUMB Online»was developed jointly with Pentegy (Poland). At the beginning of 2009, the bank prepared technical task and a plan for the development of a new Internet banking, a tender was held. The technical solution from Pentegy most fully met the requirements of the bank.
In January 2010, a pilot version of the service was launched, and after testing it in the spring of 2010, PUMB Online was launched for the bank's private clients. The service was originally conceived as a full-fledged one and from the very beginning it allowed to do most of the operations that are available today. In January 2011, a special module "Deposit Constructor" appeared in the service for placing deposits, which allows the client to select a deposit on non-standard terms.
Over the past 2 years, the bank has been working to expand the list of counterparties to which PUMB Online users can pay for services without commission (utilities, payment for communication services, etc.). In 2012, a service for replenishing an account in social networks and online games was added.
Internet banking "PUMB Online" in 2011-2012 was noted by a number of reputable media: No. 1 in terms of ease of use according to "Forbes-Ukraine", No. 1 in terms of innovation in the "Ukrainian Banker Awards" of the weekly "InvestGazeta", No. 1 in the rating "The most electronic bank" of the weekly "InvestGazeta".
At the moment, according to the bank's information, about 270 thousand clients are connected to PUMB Online, of which about 67 thousand (25%) are active.
The bank does not hide plans for the development of PUMB Online. It is assumed that soon the functionality of money transfers, advanced mobile services, and the purchase of banking products will become available to users.
The first mobile application, iPUMB, was released by the bank in March 2011. Connection to Internet banking
To connect to the PUMB Online system, an existing client just needs to visit a bank branch and conclude an agreement for the remote banking service. Opening accounts and signing agreements in one of the central branches of FUIB Bank in Kyiv took us no more than 25 minutes.
After signing the contract for providing access to the PUMB Online remote service system, you will receive a scratch card, which, under a protective layer, contains the password for the first login to the PUMB Online system. The password is printed quite clearly and, as it seemed to us, there is practically no risk of erasing it with a metal coin.

Maintenance cost
Activation and annual maintenance of the PUMB Online system when applying for the cheapest "Basic" service package costs UAH 50. When ordering more expensive packages - "Classic", "Comfortable", "Platinum" - free of charge.
We decided to compare "Basic" and "Classic" in order to choose the most optimal one. The Basic package costs UAH 4.99 per month (UAH 59.88 per year), while the Classic package costs UAH 9.99 per month (UAH 119.88 per year). Thus, the difference in cost is only 10 hryvnia, and the difference in the content of the package is for a chipped MC Standard and the opportunity to use SMS banking for free. Obviously, if your main goal is to use PUMB Online in tandem with payment card payments, you can get the most benefit by purchasing the "Classic" service package.
FUIB has an interesting option called "Refund of commissions", within which, when the minimum amount of non-cash settlements with a payment card is reached, the client is not charged a monthly commission in the next month. In other words, if you pay more than 750 hryvnias for "Basic" and 1500 hryvnias for "Classic" on a monthly basis, the use of the service package for the next month will be free.
You can replenish a card account with a passport through the cash desk, as well as withdraw cash from PUMB a and Radius network ATMs for free.
Payments to accounts opened with another bank - 0.3% min. 0.5 UAH When the payment is made, the amount of the commission is indicated under the "Amount" field. It varies depending on which account the payment is sent from/to. If from a current account to an account in another bank, then the commission is 0.3%. If to an account opened with FUIB, then the commission is 0%. If from a credit card, then the commission is 3%. The system automatically recognizes these nuances and accordingly changes the message about the size of the commission.
Replenishment mobile phone operators MTS, Life, etc. - 1.5% of the amount, min. 0.5 hryvnia, other operators - free of charge. Annual service of SMS-banking - 60 hryvnias (only for the "Basic" package, for the "Classic" - free of charge).

When logging in, the user is prompted to enter a username and password. This can also be done using the virtual keyboard. If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it by calling the Call Center or by contacting a bank branch.
After entering the credentials, the user goes to the main page of the Internet bank "PUMB Online" in the "My Products" section.
System functionality
Declared key features of the PUMB Online system:
- operations with card accounts: opening card accounts and ordering new cards, viewing balances, a list of cards, detailed information on each card, viewing a list of card account operations for a period, viewing a list of blocked amounts and pending card account operations, assigning “names” to accounts and cards for convenient operation in the PUMB Online interface, setting and changing daily limits on transactions using payment cards;
- various operations with deposits: opening, closing, replenishment, partial withdrawal, viewing information, balances, generating statements, viewing additional. agreements, predictive schedule of interest payment, prolongation, change of interest payment account or deposit body, creation of templates for regular replenishment of deposits;
- operations with loans: repayment (on schedule or ahead of schedule), viewing information on the loan, payment schedule, payment history, regular repayment template;
- payments and transfers: between the client's card accounts opened in FUIB, according to arbitrary details, according to predetermined details, buying vouchers for replenishing mobile phones, viewing payment history, creating templates for regular payments;
- SMS banking.
Loans
In the "Loans" section, you can view information on existing loans, the payment schedule and their details, and by clicking the "Loans History" button, you can get information on already repaid loans. Design new loan or you can't apply for it.
Cards
In the Maps section, you can see brief information on existing cards. To perform any actions with the card, you must click on the card number. A click opens extended information, here you can temporarily block the card and set limits not only for cash withdrawals, but also for card payments in the trading network. Moreover, the limit is set in the currency of the account, but is equivalent to the amount in US dollars. You can also independently prohibit / allow operations on the Internet.
In the same section, you can send an application for a new card by linking it to an existing card account. It is convenient that when choosing a card account, the tariffs for servicing available cards are lowered.
Unfortunately, it is impossible to buy a virtual prepaid card in this Internet banking.
Current accounts and deposits
In the "Accounts" section, you can find standard information about the user's current accounts, their status, and balances. You can also open a new account. The statement can be obtained through "Accounts" - "Archive of transactions".
Interestingly, the PUMB Online system separates the account balance and available funds. The balance is the amount of transactions actually confirmed by the bank without blocking, and the available funds are the amount of purchases, taking into account blocked, but not yet confirmed by the bank.
In our opinion, this is not convenient, since you have to switch between two subsections. A good option– display all transactions in one list, but with an additional column completed/blocked transactions. Some purchases also lack transaction descriptions, making them difficult to recognize.
In the "Deposits" section, you can view brief and detailed information on already made deposits, change the parameters or close the deposit, as well as use the deposit constructor and open a new deposit online using the "New Deposit" button.
After selecting a deposit using the constructor, you must click on interest rate to open a new deposit online.
Payments and Applications
When you go to the "Payments" section, a form of free payment using bank details opens. Customers will certainly appreciate the ability to create a regular payment, as well as the ability to assign a payment to a specific financial category for use in the "My Finances" section.
In the "Payments" section there is also an information subsection "Limits", which informs about the existing restrictions. So, in our Basic package, the maximum amount of payments is allowed in the amount of up to UAH 8,000 per day and the maximum number is no more than 6 payments per day. However, you can change the limit by contacting the customer service center.
Fast payments to providers of various services are highlighted in a separate section "Payment for services". So, in the “Mobile top-up” subsection, you can pay for the services of Intertelecom (CDMA Ukraine, Vostok Telecom), MTS, FreshTEL, Life:), TezGSM, TravelSim, Travelfon, TriMob (Utel). The Kyivstar telecom operator is not included in this list. As a competitive alternative to replenishing a mobile account through PUMB Online, the bank's corporate website offers replenishment of a mobile account in Portmon.
But the list of bank partners does not end there. You can make payments for Internet/TV, utilities, telephony, social networks and games in the "New Payment/Template" subsection. This list is constantly updated.
Translations
P2P transfers exist in PUMB Online only in the form of a transfer using bank details. You cannot transfer money by card number, mobile phone or e-mail address in PUMB Online.
The system provides for working with Webmoney electronic vouchers through the menu item "Payment for services" - "Vouchers". The possibility of selling vouchers through ATMs is also implemented. However, we were unable to use this functionality.
Information and analytical functions and personal accounting
One of the strengths of the PUMB Online Internet Bank is its development towards the implementation of the relevant analytical functions of the system. In particular, users have access to the My Finances module (beta version), which consists of 4 elements: financial goal, expenses, income, and settings.
Safety
To ensure the maximum level of security, the connection to PUMB Online is encrypted using 128-bit encryption. The "company validated" SSL certificate is issued by the reputed CA Thawte, Inc.
The virtual keyboard is used to enter the password on the login page. If the client enters the password incorrectly three times, the account will be blocked. Subsequent unlocking of the password is carried out only when the client personally contacts the bank's call center.
One-time password to confirm the operation (OTP) comes via SMS.
The session in PUMB Online is limited to 10 minutes. The system constantly logs (connections, password changes, etc.), so you can always see in the “Settings” section who and when opened your Internet banking, including unsuccessful login attempts.

Personalization and communications
It should be noted that if you do not enter the Internet bank for a long time, then the main page turns into a news feed, which takes a long time to clean. Moreover, without viewing the news itself, it is impossible to close it in the main window - the “Close message” link leads to viewing the message.
In addition, over the past few weeks, we have constantly observed a stub informing about the possibilities of paying for the services of GIVC Kyiv. Clicking on the cross in the upper right corner of the window does not help to completely get rid of the announcement, it will reappear the next time you open PUMB Online. To finally say goodbye to the annoying announcement, you need to click the "I will pay" button at the bottom of the text.
We also want to note the possibility of changing the page style template and setting up the configuration of the quick access menu, with which you can make the Internet banking page more user-friendly, for example, change the page design and select sections for quick access.
Sections for quick access will appear immediately next to the "Configuration quick access menu" button in the center of the page. A similar action is available through the "Settings" section, "Settings" subsection.
In the "Settings" section, you can also edit your personal data. Only the e-mail address is available for editing (you need to additionally go through the address activation procedure).
In the PUMB Online system, you can also send a question to bank specialists (section "Contacting the Bank") with the possibility of answering by e-mail or by phone. Strange, but at the time of sending the request with the specified e-mail, the form asked to enter the desired time of the call.
Our simple question, sent on September 24 at 4:42 pm, was answered the next day at 7:16 pm, that is, the waiting time was more than 24 hours.
It is very easy to get through to the call center at the phone number 0-800-500-490 indicated in the system header, however, the waiting time for a free operator during the daytime exceeds 1 minute. There is no possibility to communicate with a bank specialist via Skype.
Summary
In our common opinion, when developing PUMB Online, a lot of attention was paid to the design of the interface, which creates good first impression of the system.
At the same time, an inexperienced user may experience some usability problems: it is difficult to find an account statement, subsections do not always open when clicking on menu items, slightly confusing naming of payment and bill payment sections.
The purpose of the buttons in the information sections is not entirely clear. Usually buttons are used in interfaces to submit some form. Here they often act as regular links (“New Account”, “New Deposit”, “Deposit Constructor”, “Payment History”, “Payment Archive”).
In our opinion, PUMB Online should appeal to users who travel a lot and want to have full control over their cards (easy ordering a new card, blocking, the ability to manage limits, prohibiting transactions on the Internet) and their costs (blocked and completed transactions) .
PUMB Online will also appeal to depositors who can open new deposits and replenish existing ones with maximum comfort.
The system will also be very useful for paying for the services of different providers, their list in the system is quite extensive. Next to the payment forms there is always a hint that allows you to fill in the details correctly. Surely users will be interested in the new module "My Finances".
Among the shortcomings - limited opportunities by simply depositing money into the system (only through a cash desk with a passport, cash-in did not work at the branch), the absence of P2P transfers, the inability to send an application for a loan. Unfortunately, PUMB Online will not be of much help to consumers with many cards in different banks.

- Settings. By clicking this button, you can see and edit your personal data, view the history of logins to your Personal Area, as well as set up a quick login.
- SMS banking. SMS banking is a PUMB online service that allows you to track events on your accounts through the SMS messaging tool. Very convenient service!
- Documents and rates. This section contains documents, tariffs and commissions for the services of FUIB Bank. All documents can be downloaded and read in more detail.
- Contacting the bank. The functionality of this button is to create an appeal to the bank in a special form. There is also a history of your requests.
- My finances. This section allows you to manage your personal finances very conveniently and visually - set financial goals, view your income and expenses in detail, set up cost items
- Renaissance Credit clients. This section is specially created for Renaissance Bank clients who have suffered from the crisis. FUIB took over the bank's customer service.
- Online consultation. By pressing this key, a form will appear online communication with the bank operator (in the lower left corner). Enter the question you are interested in and wait for an answer, as a rule, the waiting time is short.
Another nice "feature" of the FUIB online account is the ability to change it color scheme, to do this, click on the "Standard" icon on the top panel and select the color scheme that you like from the drop-down list. A trifle - but nice!
