A dacha is not always a two-story cottage with a large plot of land. For a comfortable stay in the bosom of nature on the weekends, a cute and cozy garden house built by yourself may well be enough.
To implement this idea, you need step-by-step instructions, a project and a great desire. Such buildings are most often shield or made of timber. Panel houses are built much faster than the second option. It will take about a week to slowly build an average garden house.
These buildings have a variety of designs, they differ from each other in materials, the shape of the roofs, they can be single-pitched or double-pitched - it all depends on the imagination and preferences of the owner. It is a small house with access to the garden that is the first step on the way to the dream - your own large and comfortable country house. The initial stage of building a garden house with your own hands is the creation of a project. When designing a building, it is necessary to determine the number of people who will live in the house and their requirements for future housing. A very important aspect is the connection of communications to the house and the availability of electricity. Be sure to supply water. Heating and gas - on request.
Place for a house
There are no particularly difficult moments in the construction of a summer home in the garden with your own hands. On the advice of experienced summer residents, it is better to start building a house with the installation of a fence, this will save building materials, which will soon be imported for the construction of a house and outbuildings. The most expensive moment in this enterprise is the foundation. If, before starting construction, there is an opportunity to consult with an experienced geologist about a place for a future house, then be sure to use this option. In addition to determining the most suitable place for building, the specialist will advise you on which land is better to allocate for a vegetable garden or a garden.
Tools and materials needed to build a house in the garden with your own hands:
Before starting construction, you will have to take care of the availability of the necessary tools: saws, a hammer, a drill with drills, self-tapping screws, an electrician, a trowel.
- plywood sheets;
- beam;
- board with the required section;
- edged or unedged board;
- chipboard sheets;
- roofing material or flexible tiles;
- mineral wool;
- rafters;
- attic beams;
- ridge board;
- metal corners;
- mounting plates;
- long screw nails;
- roofing nails;
- self-tapping screws;
- cement;
- electrician;
- remedy against bark beetles;
- fire fighting liquid;
- PVA glue;
- saws;
- a hammer;
- screwdriver;
- shovel;
- buckets;
- trowels;
- drill with a set of drills.
Since the period of being in the country falls on the summer season, it makes little sense to build an expensive thick-walled house in the garden. To build an economy class level with your own hands, the materials will also be appropriate (beam or shield). The main building material will be plywood sheets with a thickness of 10 mm, if desired, you can use sheets with a greater thickness, timber (50x50 mm) and mineral wool as a heater.

Foundation. Filling the floor
To date, there are two common options for manufacturing the construction of a garden house - brick and concrete. The brick version involves the removal of pillars from solid red brick, in this case, to create rafters and lags, a board with a section of 100x50 mm is used as the base of the floor, which is fastened with metal corners and mounting plates. For this, both edged and unedged boards are suitable. The difference is that an unedged board needs additional plywood sheeting. It is possible to cover the floor with chipboard sheets to prevent crumbling and rotting of the sheets upon contact with moisture - it is recommended that they be pre-coated with a layer of drying oil.
If a concrete mortar is used for the foundation, it becomes necessary to build a formwork. To do this, a hole about 70 cm deep is first dug, into which a sand and gravel cushion 20 cm thick is poured. This is followed by the process of constructing the formwork and the subsequent pouring of the concrete solution. While the solution hardens, it must be poured with water to prevent cracking and give strength. A strapping from a bar (150x150 cm) is also necessary; in the future, a board frame will be laid on it. Mineral wool (10 cm) is placed inside this frame and after all the measures, the structure is sewn up with plywood sheets in two layers. PVA glue is suitable for fastening plywood sheets.

Building plywood walls
If a shield house is built with your own hands, then its walls will be created from double plywood shields. Initially, a beam of 50x50 mm is nailed to the edges of the shields. To stiffen the entire structure, a beam is also nailed in the center of the shield. The void in the shield is filled with mineral wool, forming a sandwich panel for insulation. If you use metal corners and fasten the bars together, this will give the structure even greater strength. When it comes time to erect and fix the walls, use the mounting plates. An important aspect is windows and doors, create openings for them in advance, since it is much harder to make them in a ready-made structure.
After the box of shields is fully assembled, we begin to sheathe the wind slats and install doors with windows. In order for the structure to serve for a long time, be durable and strong, it is necessary to pre-treat it with a fire-fighting liquid and an agent that prevents the appearance of bark beetles.
