Craft product birthday modeling design waterfall mini mk natural material. Artificial waterfall for home and real for giving How to make an imitation of a waterfall from pva glue
Probably one of the many enjoyable activities is watching the water. It doesn't matter if it's a stream, pond, sea or ocean.
The works of many artists try to convey in them all the power, beauty and romance at the same time, to capture a certain moment in time. It is this moment that remains in our memory and makes us remember many, many times.
For this reason, the diorama allows you to create a composition that will delight you for a long time. In addition to composition and artistry, a diorama's realism plays an important role. In this article, we will show you how you can imitate water for your dioramas in poster modeling.
Materials and methods
All simulation methods can be divided into 2 groups:
- voluminous;
- superficial.
Imitation of the thickness (volume) of water
This technique is used when it is necessary to convey "actions" inside the water, to show transparency. For such purposes, as a rule, polyurethane and epoxy resins are used.
- a yellow-brown or transparent substance that hardens with a hardener.
Advantages:
- 2-3 hours after mixing the components, the resin changes its characteristics and it is convenient to apply it to the surface and give it a wave shape.
Flaws:
- thorough mixing and exact observance of the proportions of the components is necessary. If this is neglected, then bubbles may appear.
- serious shrinkage after drying;
- toxicity, odor.
- this is modern replacement epoxy resin. Unlike epoxy, it has better fluidity and transparency. For this reason, it is better suited for simulating objects submerged in water. Shrinkage is present, but not significant. The time to complete drying can be up to 48 hours.
Flaws:
- highly toxic;
- high price.
If you need to create a large water surface and do not need water transparency, the “old-fashioned way” - gypsum is suitable.
Gypsum- inexpensive material, odorless, has significant hardness. The mixture should not be very liquid, but at the same time - not thick. After drying (1-2 hours) - the surface can be painted. For these purposes, both the most inexpensive paints - gouache, and more expensive water-soluble acrylic paints are quite suitable.
Simulation of the surface of the water
Sometimes it happens that only surface effects are enough in a diorama, for example: puddles, ponds, other small reservoirs. Although there are exceptions - the sea surface. Here are the main ways.
Silicone sealant(transparent)- this is the most common sealant, which is packaged in tubes. Ideal for rough water simulation. Dries out from moisture in the air. Following the application, it is desirable to immerse the work under the cap.
Flaws:
- toxic while drying, has a strong smell of vinegar;
- peeling is possible under mechanical action;
- fast drying (about 30 minutes).
Liquid nails (transparent)- also familiar to us glue. It is a white, odorless, non-toxic substance. It has a transparent base that can be tinted with acrylic paints. The transparency of the layer appears only after complete drying. A thick layer dries for a very long time, so it is recommended to pour glue no more than 5-6 mm thick. and make the wavelength up to 1 cm.
Flaws:
- long drying time.
Conclusion
As you can see, there are quite enough ways to simulate water in modeling, besides, we have not described everything here - but only the main ones. One universal method does not exist, each modeler must choose one or another method that is suitable in a given situation.
We hope this article has helped you. Good luck with your modeling!

Today we bring to your attention original idea for the manufacture of a dry waterfall, which will perfectly fit into the interior of the living room, children's room.
To create a decorative waterfall you will need:
Stones of different sizes;
Plate + napkin for decoupage;
Ground coffee;
Artificial greenery and flowers;
glue for ceiling tiles- "Dragon", "Titan";
Decorative waterfall step by step:
Collect stones from the road (photo 1) and varnish them (photo 2). Take out the old plate and cover it with a napkin (Pic 3-4). Do not decoupage the bottom and leave it white (photo 5).
Start slowly gluing the pebbles, building a slide out of them in the form of a wall (photo 6). Fill the gaps between the stones with ground coffee, and in some places stick artificial greenery and flowers.
After all the stones are glued, and the fountain takes on the shape you need, you start pouring glue from above, creating “streams of water”. Imitation real water can be obtained from the glue that is used to glue the ceiling tiles - "Dragon", "Titan", etc. (photo 8).
It is important to pour slowly enough, and in order for the simulated jets to solidify well, pour the glue into any container in advance and let them thicken a little in the air.
But if the jet does not hold somewhere, return it to its place by winding glue from the bottom onto any stick-twig (you can use makeup sticks by removing cotton from them), you can use a knitting needle. Screw the glue onto the stick and drag it up to the right place, and attach it there, scrolling on the stone and pressing the “stream” against it.
You can also use shells or even crab for decoration (as in this case).
Decorative waterfall is ready!
A table waterfall or a floating cup will become a decor for an aquarium or a room. On the plot you can make a waterfall in the country.
The content of the article:
The waterfall allows you to turn a corner of the apartment or suburban area into natural. It is pleasant to watch how a man-made stream runs, to listen to its murmur. If you do not have a summer cottage, but have an aquarium, then knowledge on how to make a waterfall in it will come in handy. Those who have their own hacienda can still first practice creating a small fixture, and then make a waterfall in the country.
Decorative waterfall for aquarium
It is not for nothing that this subtitle has such a name, because a home stream is a worthy decoration of an aquarium.
Look at the principle of the device of such a waterfall. As you can see, it consists of unpretentious items. Due to the circulation of transparent and fine white sand, which drives the compressor, a very interesting effect is created.
To make such a decor for an aquarium with your own hands, you will need:
- plastic bottle - volume 1.5 liters;
- dropper;
- plastic bottle - volume 0.5 liters;
- silicone sealant;
- plastic water pipe diameter 370 mm;
- water supply rubber hose diameter 120–300 mm;
- narrow tape;
- compressor;
Glue the hose to the tube using sealant. Step back 3 cm from the bottom of the hose, make an incision here with a sharp knife 2 cm deep, 1 cm wide, oval.
It was the turn of the 1.5 liter bottle. Cut off the threaded throat from it, then the next part just below the shoulders. You have got a kind of bowl. Put it on a rubber tube, securing it at the incision site.
Next, you need to bend 3 ends of the plastic water pipe, fix them in this position with tape, winding it.
Now you need to glue the junction of the hoses with the bowl well with a sealant, then move away from work, wait for the solution to dry completely. After that, you can start next step. At the top of the hose, make an oval diagonal cut that is 2.5 cm deep and 1 cm wide.
Glue the plastic tip from the dropper to the bottom of the tube, you need to be patient and wait for the solution to dry completely.
Only after that you can put the tube from the dropper on the plastic tip, and the other end of the tube must be connected to the compressor.
At this stage, you need to check if everything is working correctly by turning on the compressor. If you are satisfied, we continue to create. To make a visor cover, you need to cut off the top plastic bottle 500 ml, remove the neck with a knife. You should get a funnel, the height of which is 3 cm.
Make a cut on the side of it, attach this element up with sealant and narrow adhesive tape.
Please note that the visor from a small plastic bottle should not cover the upper section of the hose, air bubbles will subsequently come out through this hole.
It remains to decorate the waterfall by attaching pebbles to it with a sealant. Here's what you get.
To make the aquarium decor in the form of flowing sand a lasting impression, you can purchase colored artificial sand. If this fails, choose the usual fraction of such that it is not too small or large. In the first case, it will become too sprayed in different directions, and in the second, sand grains can create a traffic jam and make it difficult for the waterfall to work.
Small stone stream with your own hands at home
Check out another way to make a waterfall. This is how it can turn out as a result.
To do this, you need to get this:
- small stones;
- sand;
- a platform, which may well be a lid from a small plastic bucket and even from a can of herring, a plastic saucer;
- tile adhesive;
- liquid nails "Fix All" or glue Titanium;
- a small decorative jug;
- knitting needle;
- tile adhesive.
It is not necessary to buy stones, if you go for a walk in the non-snowy season, look under your feet. Sometimes near the road, paths you can find very beautiful specimens. After you get home, wash them well, lay them out on a towel to dry, and at this time take care of another stage of work.
Put glue on the lid, sprinkle it with sand so that it sticks here. In this case, it is necessary to arrange so not only the upper part of the lid, but also its rim.
If you are using, for example, a plastic saucer, then its sides do not need to be covered. Carry glue on top of the sand, attach pebbles here. Of those that are larger, make a semblance of a rock. Place a small decorative jug on top, attaching it in the same way.
Let the tile adhesive dry, then pour Titanium glue here. Pour it into a jug, wait 10 minutes. This is necessary for him to "grab". By winding its hardening fibers onto a knitting needle, give the waterfall the desired shape.
If you are using liquid nails, then first cut out a water template from paper, then cover it with this mass, wait until it dries. Then you can attach falling water to the top of the work.
It seems as if it really is water, and air bubbles give the work more authenticity.
If you brought shells from the sea, then use those for your craft. See how to place them, where to attach artificial greenery. Liquid nails or glue will give the impression of falling water.
If you don't have sand, then make the base of a waterfall with clear blue water. Lay a cut-out piece of oilcloth or other rubberized material of the same color on the selected round container. Top with glue, which will soon create the effect of an exotic lake.
If you want to make a rock for a waterfall, then take for this:
- mounting foam;
- sharp construction knife;
- acrylic paints;
- glue Titanium;
- sand.
Now paint it with light brown paints, leaving free space where the jets will flow. Fill these places with blue paint. Glue the sand to some areas of the rock after the paint has dried. When the glue is completely dry, then you need to make falling water from liquid nails or Titanium, and another desktop waterfall is ready.
Place a gold one next to it to create a nautical-themed corner in the house.
If you have suburban area, then there will certainly be a place here to create a waterfall. Here you can have a great rest, enjoy the murmur of a man-made stream.
How to make a waterfall in the country?
Step-by-step instructions and photo illustrations for it will help you understand the principle of its device. The list of necessary will facilitate the task of self-selection of information. For this job use:
- sand;
- pebbles;
- quartzite;
- cement;
- granotsev;
- PVC film or fiberglass;
- reinforcing mesh;
- water pump;
- rubber hose.
Now you can pick up a shovel and dig a pit. But since you will be making a waterfall in the country, you need to build a hill. You will create it from dug up earth. To strengthen this slide and create a cascade, design it the way the brave altruists do in the photo.
Make a pit deep enough. If you want to subsequently breed fish there, then it should not be less than a meter to keep the water from freezing in winter.
When arranging a recess, keep in mind that it will need to be filled with 10 centimeters of sand. It is spilled, rammed. Now you can lay the waterproofing from the material of your choice on top.
The film should be enough so that it goes well on the banks. Press down on her here with stones. When digging a pit, you need to make another small hole where you will put a polyethylene pipe.
If you want the lower part of the waterfall to be a strong film that does not tear, then place a reinforcing mesh here, put a concrete solution 12–15 cm high on top. Let the lake bowl dry properly.
Now look at how the water system will be arranged.
As you can see, there is a pump at the bottom, the cable and hose are brought to the surface. The cable will be connected to the network, the hose will need to be laid between the stones of the slide so that the water can rise and then flow down.
To do this, lay flat sandstone, pebbles in the form of a slide. What a beautiful cascading waterfall it turns out.
If you do not want to lay a film on the bottom of the trench, concrete the bowl, then use a ready-made pond tank.
But first, you also have to dig a ditch, then lay a bowl here, close the junction of the reservoir with the soil outside with the excavated earth in order to close the borders of the lake.
Also place a pump here, bring a hose to it, the upper edge of which must be raised to a sufficient height, draped with stones to make a waterfall. You can put a garden fountain, you get a very nice pond.
can be planted here aquatic plants in plastic pots. If you want, turn this place into alpine slide, combining stones with unpretentious mountain vegetation, then the principle of creation can be the same as in the next photo.
The following diagram will certainly come in handy, which details what an artificial waterfall consists of.
DIY floating cup
If the previous work seemed difficult to you, see how to make a waterfall so that it is in the apartment. Moreover, looking at some samples, you will see not only flowing water, but also floating flowers and even delicious chocolate and coffee icing that will pour out of the container onto a piece of cake.
Let's continue the topic, let's see how a floating cup is created with our own hands, from which an inexhaustible stream of water seems to flow.
To create such beauty, you will need:
- plate;
- transparent plastic bottle;
- a cup;
- glue Titanium;
- scissors.
Now, in turn, bring these parts to the flame of the burner to give such an interesting shape. Flat petals should remain at the top and bottom, which will then need to be glued to the cup and to the plate.
To do this, generously grease half of the bottle with Titanium glue, glue it to the inside of the cup. Decorate the other half of the plastic bottle in the same way, glue it to the outside of the cup.
Now you need to fix the workpiece in the desired position with the help of auxiliary items so that it dries completely within two days. Here's what happens.
Now you need to cover the blanks from plastic bottles with Titan glue again. It is better to first leave it in the air for 10 minutes, let it become a little thicker. But if there is still a lot of glue in the vial, then it's a pity to leave it to dry like this. In this case, you will need to pour Titanium on the top of the plastic bottle, and what flows down, lift it up again with a spatula.
If you want the water to have a blue tint, add a little dye of this color to the glue.
Until the solution is completely dry, lay out the plate with shells, colored pebbles. In the same way, you can decorate the cup itself to make such a homemade artificial waterfall.
From such a container, not only water can fall, let flowers pour out of it, as it were.
So that you can put this waterfall on your desktop, admire it, take:
- a coffee pair consisting of a saucer and a cup;
- glue gun;
- thick wire in the winding, the length of the segment is 20 cm;
- scissors;
- pliers;
- artificial flowers;
- for decoration: butterfly, beads, beads.
From artificial plants their flowering part is cut off, starting from the bottom of the cup, glue them here first.
Next, decorate the entire wire and saucer. You can glue decorations here if you like.
If you want coffee to smell delicious at home, use the grains of this tree for this. But first, it is better to decorate the mug and cup with jute rope, gluing it to these objects in a spiral.
Also connect the coffee pair with a thick wire in the winding, then glue the coffee beans here. Also, cinnamon sticks will be appropriate here, with which such a fragrant artificial waterfall is decorated.
Let's develop such a delicious topic further. After all, this active flow can fall down, creating a chocolate cake. The first stages of work are similar to the previous master class, so we will not list them again. But the creation of a small cake can be done in more detail.
For it, you will need foam, insulation or something similar. Put the shape in the form of a cup here, cut out equal circles. To get a bevel, as if the cake had already begun to be eaten, they took a piece with a spoon, cut holes in each, alternating them in size.
Lay the workpieces in a pile, if the cut is uneven, correct it at this stage.
The sweetness consists of alternating soufflé and chocolate cakes, to show this, paint the edges of the white blanks with black acrylic paint.
Glue the layers together. Then this cake can be covered with putty, treated with sandpaper or glued to it with a napkin. Then the paint will not be absorbed into the porous structure of the material and will lie flat. Apply dark acrylic paint to the sweetness.
Now you need to stick the second end of the wire that fastens the cup into the cake, bend it from the back in the form of a loop. To hide this auxiliary attribute, make a notch on the back of the cake, put a piece of wire there.
The cake will be even more appetizing if it is coated with a layer of acrylic varnish and sprinkled with coconut chips on top. If you want the plate to be decorated like in a restaurant, then type brown acrylic paints into the syringe, apply a line of strokes. Glue the bottom of the wire, which is under the cake, to this plate.
Attach the bottom of the cake to this dish in the same way. Now, using a glue gun or Titanium glue, you need to glue coffee beans onto a flowing waterfall. If you are using a glue gun, be very careful as the silicone coming out of it is hot.
To make the buildable chocolate icing, thin the acrylic lacquer and brown acrylic paint 1:1. Cover with this substance the gaps between the coffee beans and themselves. When all this dries up, you can admire the results of a wonderful work.
Here's how many interesting things you can do on the theme of the waterfall. If you want to make it in the country, then watch the video tutorial. From it you will learn some of the subtleties of the process, for example, you will learn how to glue flat stones.
The second plot is useful to those who do not have personal plot, but there is a desire to make a waterfall.
The third one will reveal the secret of how a do-it-yourself floating cup is made.
"I saw a lot of tutorials on creating waterfalls from glue. As usual, I took a little bit from each and created such a decoration for the house."
We need:
- PVA glue ( better professional, but you can also builder)
- TITAN WILD glue
- dry pharmacy grass (I like string or nettle most of all, they give a green color)
- shells, pebbles, barbecue stick
- all sorts of "decorations" - grass, a turtle, small multi-colored pebbles.
- A lot of patience and nerves (later I will tell you where they are very needed)
Description of the manufacture of the waterfall
First of all, we “cast” a stand from plaster. Pour gypsum, diluted with water to the consistency of thick sour cream, into a plastic box that you like. If you are afraid that it will not stick well, the form can be lubricated with a small amount of vegetable oil. After complete drying, paint with acrylic paint. True, then I did not like the dark bottom and I partially scraped off the paint under the bottom of the reservoir.
Next, I'll explain my steps a bit. I tried to fasten the fountain wall itself with putty, glue, gypsum-glue mixture ... I didn’t like the result, and in any case, the seams between the pebbles then need to be decorated with something.
I decided to try my favorite mixture of dry grass with PVA glue. It turned out very similar to moss and the pebbles were perfectly fastened together. This is where I stopped. I simply mixed a small amount of glue with dry nettle and cemented the wall with this mixture. Moreover, she was not upset if neighboring pebbles got dirty during the construction process, but moss grows everywhere. I walled the shells right into the wall, although it was possible to glue them later.
Pebbles were laid out on the same mixture along the edge of the reservoir.
After the end of the construction of the wall, pour a small amount of Titanium on the bottom, sprinkle with sand or multi-colored small pebbles, plant grass, decorations.
Now we arm ourselves with a barbecue stick and great patience. We take Titanium and begin to quietly pour it into the upper shells. We remember how it flows, so that later the waterfall looks natural. Pour, pour, the glue flows down, filling the reservoir and the shells of the cascade.
Stop pouring, the trickles of the waterfall safely "run away". Wind the glue on a stick in a pond or horizontal shells, pull it up and attach it to the place where the trickle should flow from. She runs away, we pull again .... Then a thin stream freezes, we continue to apply layers of glue on it until we get the desired result.
We wait until it dries, pour it into the tanks, since the glue shrinks when it dries.
In short, we conjure for several days with glue, a stick and our nerves. The more patient and slow you are, the more beautiful the result will be. Bubbles form themselves during the drying process.
