Cloud operating system with Russian language support. Windows remote desktop rental, cloud computers. What is in ZeroPC
Currently, the phrase "cloud technology" has long been heard, although most people still do not understand what it means. AT broad sense this is a certain set of servers serving users, while the user, like the system administrator, does not know and cannot know in advance on which server the user's processes will be executed, since the allocation of production capacities occurs automatically, depending on which server there are relevant resources. Although, what can I say, very often “clouds” are understood simply as a computing cluster. And in general, one can argue about this for a long time. We will not do this, we will calmly use cloud services. Today I would like to introduce you to the CloudMe cloud service, which is both storage and a virtual desktop that can run in your browser.
Registration.
The very first thing to do is register. Follow this link and register. You will immediately receive 3 gigabytes of disk space (+ another 500 MB if you register using the link above), which you can use both in the client program for Linux (.deb and .rpm packages), Windows, Android, iPhone, while working via WebDav (which will allow you to mount the storage as a network drive or network folder on Windows and Linux), and when working with the cloud desktop that we will talk about. Unfortunately, on free accounts, the maximum file size that can be uploaded is 150 megabytes. However, for documents or photographs this is more than enough.
After registering, you will need to log in to your account. You should see the following:
This is the interface of your cloud storage. Here you can upload files directly through your browser. On the second tab (Synced) you can download the client for your operating system:
The site will automatically detect your operating system and when you click on the "Install CloudMe" link, you will be redirected to the page with the program for your operating system.
By by and large it is reminiscent of such systems as Copy, Dropbox or Yandex.Disk, but the most interesting is yet to come. And this is exactly what makes this service unique and very noticeably distinguishes it from a number of others.
cloud desktop
At the very bottom of the page in the CloudMe storage web interface, there are a number of links:
Enter your username and password and click the "Sign In" button. After logging in, you will see your cloud desktop:
All the usual elements of the desktop are present here. This is the main menu, and the taskbar, and the tray, which contains the clock and the area for placing icons. You already have an e-mail address, which is issued during registration and is used when working with an e-mail program like this:<логин>@cloudme.com. The email program itself looks like this:
Nothing supernatural, in general, very similar to other email programs, except that this one works in a tab in your browser, but looks like a regular application. In the lower left corner is the main menu button. The menu itself looks like this:
In addition to those applications that are already installed, you can install others, which are not very many yet, but I hope there will be more. You can install applications through the application store (Marketplace), the icon of which is located on the desktop:
As I said, there are not very many applications yet. If you plan to work with documents, then you may find the applications for working with documents located in the "Productivity" section useful. These are Zoho Sheet for spreadsheets, Zoho Show for presentations and Zoho Writer for text documents, very similar to regular desktop applications, but all running in the same browser window.
If it is more convenient for you when the interface is in Russian, you can change the default language by selecting it by clicking on the button with the image of the continents in the upper right corner, there are a lot of supported languages, and Russian is on this list. By default, there are already installed applications for messaging over several protocols (unfortunately, not the most popular), for example, and one could describe them for a long time, but, as they say, it's better to see once than hear a hundred times. So register and try! Good luck with your cloud desktop.
Acquaintance with cloud technologies among users is most often associated with well-known file storages - Dropbox, SkyDrive, Google Drive, Box. But when it is necessary to expand the boundaries of presence in the "cloud" it is worth resorting to the use of cloud operating systems (Cloud PC).
Such systems open in any browser, regardless of the device used (smartphone, tablet, desktop computer) and perform many functions - work with operations, documents, view video and audio, backup etc. We will talk about the most popular "cloud" operating systems, which are worth paying attention to.
http://zeropc.com/)
One of the most functional cloud operating systems on the Internet. The service works both in the browser and has ready-made applications for iPhone, iPad, Android and Amazon Appstore. In addition, the service supports authorization through social networks Facebook, Google +, Twitter.
After registering in Zero PC, the user receives a ready-made desktop with windows, shortcuts, folders and an “Apps” button, similar to the “Start” button for Windows.
The interface is developed in HTML5 and Java without the use of Adobe Flash. When you press the right key, the traditional context menu is activated, which performs all the basic functions of the operating system - copy, paste, move, delete, archive. There is a built-in Thinkfree Office 4 text editor, Internet browser, audio and video player.
To store files, you can use Google Drive cloud storage or built-in own. The free version provides 1 GB of free space, when switching to the Basic plan ($2.99 per month) - 5 GB, and to the Pro plan ($ 9.99 per month) - as much as 50 GB.
Of the minuses, one can note the lack of full localization into Russian.
http://cloudme.com)
CloudMe is the new name of the iCloud service, which was hosted on the iCloud domain until the spring of 2011, when Apple acquired the rights to this domain from the Swedish studio Xcerion for its own cloud service and device synchronization.
Now CloudMe and CloudTop are a powerful cloud operating system with a stylish design that works on all popular devices - Windows, Mac OS, Linux, iPhone, iPad, Android, BlackBerry.
The service is also built in HTML5 and includes a desktop, shortcuts, widgets, control panels, and a start button. The system provides standard applications (mail, calendar, photo album) and additional (about 50), which are installed through the application manager. The only downside is the lack of a built-in text editor.
CloudMe provides several pricing plans to choose from:
1) Free (3 GB free space);
2) 25 GB (4.90 € per month);
3) 100 GB (14.90 € per month);
4) 500 GB (49.90 € per month).
The interface is fully localized into Russian.
A cloud operating system entirely built on Adobe Flash. The service does not have separate applications on smartphones, however, it has a separate mobile version on HTML with reduced functionality.
The resource offers three display modes: desktop (desktop), Glide HD and Internet portal. There are 15 applications available in desktop mode: text editor, photo editor, calendar, video and audio player, mail client, various utilities.
Glide HD offers unified work with files - upload, delete, edit and organize into folders. The service has the Glide One application, which allows you to synchronize files on your computer and in the cloud.
The service is suitable for those users who need a large number of free space. The free edition comes with 30 GB of storage, and for $4.95 per month you can upgrade to 250 GB.
4. AstraNOS (http://astranos.org)
AstraNOS is created in the likeness of the Mac OS operating system, which will undoubtedly appeal to fans of "apple" products.
The service is written in the programming language HTML and JavaScript. The interface has a ribbon bar with application icons. And there are a large number of them: a browser, a text editor, an email client, an RSS reader, games, a calculator, a calendar, stickers, and a photo viewer.
Of the minuses, one can single out the lack of cloud storage and interaction with a desktop computer or mobile device. The main advantage of AstraNOS is that it is free - the project is completely non-commercial.
The operating system Joli OS is presented in two versions - desktop OS and web version. The development of the French startup began back in 2010, when Google began introducing its own Chrome OS operating system.
Joli OS is based on the Linux kernel and can run even on older computers. The interface is built on modern HTML5 technologies, which ensures high speed. In addition to the desktop version, there is the Joli Cloud online service, which is necessary for synchronizing files between devices. In addition to the usual registration, authorization can be carried out through social network Facebook. Inside the cloud service, you can choose from automatic connection of popular Internet services - Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, SkyDrive, Instagram, Vimeo, Youtube, SoundCloud, Flickr, etc.
The user can centrally view documents, photos, videos and music from authorized social services. However, this is where all activities end. You cannot edit or modify files.
http://silveos.com)
All fans of Microsoft Windows will love the cloud-based Silve OS. The service is developed on Silverlight technology and requires the installation of additional plug-ins in browsers.
The system includes the most necessary applications: browser, explorer, media player, notepad, graphics editor, calculators, Bing Maps online maps and a small number of games.
The service contains many restrictions - no context menu is provided, you cannot drag and drop files with a mouse click, there is no backsaving of files from a personal computer to the cloud.
It is worth noting that the service has a mobile application for Windows Phone, which allows owners of devices based on this OS to use the cloud-based "desktop" Silve OS on a smartphone.
How convenient is it that the accountant's computer with all the settings and 1C databases is always with you? But what if at the same time it cannot be lost, broken and its battery does not run out?
A miracle or just progress does not stand still - let's figure it out!
So what we want to get:
- Access to a computer from anywhere (for example, from an Internet cafe on vacation)
- All settings and installed programs saved, including 1C;
- Reliable data storage with daily backup, the ability to improve the computer;
Solution: We will set up a computer in the cloud. The computer will be located in a secure DPC (Data Processing Center).
For this we need:
- Decide on the choice of data center, or trust the professionals (we, of course;);
- Conclude an agreement and select the necessary hardware capacity (you can take a cloud from us for a few days for testing absolutely free), the cost of renting a cloud computer for working in 1C starts from 800 rubles per month including VAT;
- Install the selected operating system on the virtual machine, at the time of writing this article, we provided Windows Server for your cloud computer for free;
- Install the required software, for example 1C;
We free of charge we make initial setup of the computer in a cloud, but for the curious a few pictures:
Choose a tariff for a computer in the cloud:
After creating a cloud, you can manage it, distribute resources:
At this stage, it is the cloud that is created and not the computer (virtual machine in the cloud). Why not a computer right away? Because you can rent the required computing power and create several computers and even combine them into a virtual network.
Now we create our cloud computer (virtual machine):
You will be allocated an external ip address that will allow you to connect to your cloud computer from anywhere in the world. When connected, you will see the familiar desktop, as on a home computer.
To connect to a remote desktop in Windows Server, you need to configure the terminal server, if you are using a regular operating system, then the configuration is easier:
Don't forget to use strong passwords! And it also makes sense to read ours.
Let's summarize:
- Now we can connect to the cloud computer from anywhere!
- Our computer is always with us and configured as we want!
- We can improve the cloud computer by switching to a different plan!
- We can set up a whole network of computers in the cloud (if required).
- Specify which licenses are free for the cloud and purchase the missing ones (licenses can be rented);
- Remember that you can upgrade your cloud computer simply by switching to another tariff;
- You can rent more than one virtual machine and set up a network between them;
- You can rent a VPN channel to the cloud - just check compatibility with your equipment;
You can always contact us for help!
Operating systems are a revolutionary direction in the development of the OS. All the leading companies in the world, doing their business on computers and in, are actively developing their cloud operating systems. For example, at the beginning of summer, Google launched a whole range of laptops and netbooks running the Google OS operating system. This fall, Apple is launching a new operating system Apple iOS 5, which will be completely “sharpened” for “clouds”.
The advantages of cloud operating systems over stationary (installed on a computer) are as follows:
1. No need to install any software. All processing can be done on services on the Internet. This allows you to speed up the process, for example, video editing, because the service is processed on such a powerful computer that an ordinary user is unlikely to be able to afford. After editing - just download the result to your computer or (if possible, and in most cases it is possible) store it there on the server.
2. When using cloud operating systems, there is no need to store any content (movies, music, etc.) on your computer. All this is stored on the service.
3. There is no need to buy an expensive powerful computer (laptop). It is enough to have one that allows you to comfortably use the Internet.
You can start using a virtual OS in parallel, with the OS already installed on your computer, and it’s completely free. Below are some virtual OS with brief description each.
Eye OS- one of the very first cloud operating systems. It has a rather ascetic appearance. The programs built into EyeOS allow you to edit documents, watch videos, listen to music, and more. Unfortunately, there is no support for the Russian language.
cloudo. Traditional webOS feature set. The ability to log into the system from any browser, even through a mobile one. As in the previous cloud OS, there is no Russian interface.
Glide OS has a number of advantages over other webOS. The main advantage is that 30 GB of virtual space on the server is allocated for free. So far, no cloud operating system allocates so much. Another plus - you can create six accounts(for example, for all family members). WebOS Glide features automatic application and file compatibility. That is, you can enter a virtual computer (and cloud virtual operating systems are essentially virtual computers) from any device (mobile phone, smartphone, Android netbook, etc.). Unfortunately, there is no Russian language yet either. But everything is intuitive.
Virtual operating system iCube OOS, perhaps the easiest to use webOS. A lot of needed useful applications(built-in programs). It is possible to grant access to files to other users. There is no support for the Russian language.

Someday, the 2000s will be called the era of gadgets: in just a few years, almost everything that office workers have used for decades has been virtualized. Faxes, binders, morning papers, reminder notes, and more have disappeared from office desks: all of this is now easily replaced by programs and applications. Even photos of loved ones no longer stand in a frame: they become a desktop screensaver or are stored on social or file-sharing networks.
This revolution of business tools is subject to a single principle: improvised tools should be easy to use and, most importantly, always be at hand. However, ensuring the work of corporate programs on the devices of employees can be difficult. In addition, connecting third-party devices via standard Internet channels may provide serious threat corporate information. That is why the DaaS (desktop as a service) service, which has been on the market for about ten years, is now gaining popularity: it can be used to build work with any fleet of mobile and portable devices without any extra effort.
Who needs it?
What is a typical DaaS service? The provider of this cloud service deploys entire virtual workstations in its data center with the necessary set of software or business applications are delivered to client devices from the cloud in the form of icons. Employees can get Internet access to a virtual desktop or applications using a regular login and password. This means that wherever they are, with a network connection, access to work programs can be obtained in a minute. Of course, great attention is paid to security and data protection issues: this is the professional task of the service provider.
DaaS is the most popular among financial companies(31%), manufacturing enterprises (12%) and healthcare organizations (12%). Also, virtual desktops are popular with design and architectural bureaus, educational and government organizations, law firms and retailers. Moreover, although the lion's share (70%) of DaaS users are small companies with less than 100 employees, every fifth DaaS user is an enterprise with 1000 or more employees. Citrix provides such statistics.
Jason Fried and David Hensson "Remote: office is not required" |
A modern enterprise is an organism that exists for the sake of profit, and all strategic and tactical tasks are set with this goal in mind. And to solve these problems, employees do not have to spend several hours every day just to get to the office. Applying modern technologies, an employee can work effectively remotely - if he copes with the tasks set on time, why then office rules and a dress code? The authors of the bestselling Rework in their new book detail why white-collar workers can gradually wean themselves from the mandatory trips to the office. |
Our realities
In Russia, according to the experience of Servionika, the scenarios for using DaaS, in general, repeat the world ones. Thus, the first model of using remote desktops is used by large enterprises: workplaces are rented “in the cloud” and combined into a local network with access for all employees. As a rule, they add remote printing capabilities, as well as access to key information systems of the company. For end users, absolutely nothing changes compared to the standard scheme: they always have familiar programs at hand. But for an enterprise, the difference is significant: applications do not require high-performance server hardware, data “circulates” in the provider’s data center, and security issues become a “headache” for service company professionals, and not for the IT department of the customer company. If the fleet of computer equipment is seriously outdated, and the management is not yet ready morally and financially to invest in updating the hardware, DaaS becomes an excellent way out.
The second option is the use of DaaS by companies in those vertical industries where special software is needed that is demanding on server performance. These are design and architectural bureaus, as well as engineering companies working in CAD systems and other computer-aided design systems. Such programs require a huge amount of computing resources, but for a small bureau of two dozen employees, it can be too expensive to purchase an expensive application server. In this case, firms turn to cloud providers and get access to their complex programs using the DaaS model.
Finally, the third scenario is aimed at top managers of companies of any size. A modern leader spends a lot of time outside the office: negotiations with partners in Russia and abroad, conferences, and even on vacation, part of the work still has to be controlled. DaaS allows you to connect to the network from anywhere in the world, work with documents and communicate with employees, study reports at any time, while working in a highly secure corporate environment.
The relevance of DaaS for business is provided by several factors at once: the development of cloud services, a variety of working devices, the availability of high-speed Internet and the mobility of modern business processes. That's why, according to 451 Research, the desktop hosting market was about $2 billion at the end of 2014, up a third in the previous 12 months. It is expected that this growth rate will be maintained until 2017.
Virtual workplace(DaaS) from Servionika |
Virtual Workplace (DaaS) - fast and convenient way organize full-fledged inexpensive mobile workplaces for your employees with a familiar interface and Microsoft Office software products. DaaS is a dedicated virtual server with a set of the most popular licensed office software installed on it with the ability to install additional software. The virtual server is accessed from various devices via remote desktop. The client device can be VDI, iOS, Windows, Android tablets or Android mini PCs, and even legacy PCs. DaaS allows you to achieve significant savings through cheaper client devices and the provision of Microsoft software for rent. DaaS greatly simplifies the administration of client workstations and improves information security. Tariffs for using the service are available and start from 470 rubles / month. |

What is a virtual desktop for?
The virtual desktop is the future of information technology. Leading hardware and software manufacturers have long understood this and are developing a cloud platform for the release of new computer games based on cloud desktops - instead of upgrading your computer for the next game, you just connect to the cloud and play, all calculations take place in the cloud, a powerful computer at home will no longer be needed.
Here are some typical use cases workplace virtualization technologies in companies.
Accounting in the cloud
Storage of important accounting information on computers and servers physically located in the office - a serious breach in the information security system of the enterprise. It is not always possible to provide uninterrupted power supply and proper cooling of server equipment in the office: the server can be supplied with electricity through an uninterruptible power supply, but in most cases the air conditioner cannot be connected this way.
Let's say the electricity problems are solved, but how reliable is the server itself? The vast majority of companies use a powerful office computer as a 1C server. The reliability of such a server leaves much to be desired - any failure can lead to loss of information.
In addition, there are no guarantees against the physical loss of a server located in the office as a result of someone else's actions.
Cloud technologies come to the rescue - accounting computers and the 1C server are virtualized and start working in the cloud. There will be no physical access to such a server, as well as to the computers of accountants. At the same time, an accountant can print on an office printer, use a scanner and a bank client in a virtual workplace, and even have the opportunity to submit a report to the FIU on a diskette. Accountants no longer need desktop computers, they can even be removed hard drives, thus turning them into zero clients for the virtual desktop.
Workplaces of agents, remote and mobile workers
In companies, such as insurance companies, where a large number of employees are always on the move, work in remote offices or away from the office, the virtualization technology of user workplaces allows them to achieve full-fledged work without compromising security.
All virtual desktops are combined into a single network, which in turn is combined with the infrastructure of the main office.
VIRTUAL WORKPLACE IN THE CLOUD
Thus, employees work in a single information space with a single set of software and a level of information security that excludes information leakage.
Banks and call centers
A fairly specific set of software is usually installed on the computer of a clerk or call center operator, allowing him to interact with numerous services, such as corporate network as well as on the Internet. A system administrator can spend more than one day setting up one such workstation.
What happens if an employee catches a virus or, worse, the computer stops loading? In the Call-center, where operators work in three shifts, the work of three people will be paralyzed.
Virtual computers give a huge advantage here too! It is enough to see how our demo access system works: there are only 5 virtual desktops, and there are dozens of times more users, but each time the user is given a new virtual desktop in the form in which our administrators created it. Moreover, user data is not tied to the virtual desktop - it is stored separately.
Summing up
So, workplace virtualization can not only increase the level of infrastructure security and work efficiency of employees, but also facilitate the work of system administrators, since all parts of a single system will be managed from one point. one system management will significantly reduce the cost of technical support for both remote offices and users, as well as local ones.

What are virtual machines for?
Capacity rental - The best way place a loaded web project on the network, deploy an application, organize data backup or launch a remote corporate server.
A virtual machine is capable of everything that is required from a real server, only it has a much higher fault tolerance and allows you to save a lot of money. We offer licensed VMware virtual machines running on Cloud One's own hardware and software system. Unlike a regular server, rented or hosted in a data center, virtual machines can use very significant resources if necessary. At the same time, the use of virtual machines is much cheaper than renting or buying a regular server, against the backdrop of much higher performance and reliability. Adjustment of the volume of used capacities is carried out extremely quickly and can be carried out by the owner of the virtual machine in several ways: through Personal Area, e-mail or by telephone request.
How do virtual machines save money?
First of all, virtual machines do not need to be acquired, so companies do not have to constantly increase their own assets against the backdrop of rising capital costs. The costs of infocommunication technologies become completely visible and transparent - monthly rental payments allow you to accurately predict costs. The issues of ensuring the reliability of data storage and processing, high bandwidth of Internet channels and effective relationships with the data center also fall on the shoulders of the service provider. All these services are an integral part of the purchased virtual machine and are provided in a fully compliant volume.
About the complex
Our server complex is built on the basis of the latest high-performance blade servers from HP.
Personal cloud computer
Data is stored using a NetApp storage system connected to the complex via an interface with a bandwidth of 8 Gb / s. Drives with SAS and SATA interfaces are organized in a RAID DP array, using NetApp's own fault-tolerant WAFL file system. Switching is implemented using Juniper Networks equipment. Each of the elements of the system is reserved according to the N + N scheme. The architecture of the complex implies transparent and operational scaling in any volume. The complex is housed in a modern Tier III secure data center.
Cloud One Services Brief: A New Approach to IT Costs
The Windows 10 operating system is equipped with one very useful feature by default - the ability to support multiple virtual desktops. This function has been used for several years in Mac OS X, Linux and has proven itself very well.
What are virtual desktops for? To optimize the user experience or, to put it simply, for convenience and comfort. For example, when there is a dense and stressful work on a PC, there are often many applications open: a calculator, a browser, a Word document, media files, etc. In such cases, when several windows are open, it is easy to get confused when switching from one object to another.
With the help of virtual desktops, work can be organized more conveniently and productively. It's like having several computers and monitors at hand. One would have a browser and a Word document open, another would have a calculator and organizer, a third would have a media player, and so on. By the way, an additional desktop is useful at work - to hide the contents from the authorities.
How to create virtual desktops
and how to use them
To organize work with programs and windows in certain areas, preferences, click on a special button in the “Taskbar”, which turns on the “Task View” mode.
Thumbnails of all running applications will appear, where you can select the program you need at the moment.
Virtual desktop
