Materials and tools
To end up with a really beautiful arch, you need to use timber and boards pre-treated with an antiseptic and varnished or stained. For the manufacture of a small architectural form you will need:
- 4 beams 2.5 m long;
- 2 boards 1.9 m long;
- 4 boards 1 m long;
- 8 rails with a section of 2X2 cm, 1.5 m and 16 cm long;
- 10 rails with a section of 2X2 cm, 0.55 m long;
- 7 rails with a section of 3X3 cm, 1 m long.
The recommended thickness of the boards is at least 2 cm. You will also need wood screws, a screwdriver, a saw, a tape measure and a marking pencil. Before starting work, you need to make a diagram, as well as prepare the boards so that building a garden arch with your own hands does not require extra effort to design after complete assembly.
Beginning of work
It is necessary to cut off on all boards to give the arch an oriental look. It is necessary to retreat 5 cm from each edge of a separate board and make a mark. Then step back from above by about 1/4 of the height of the material, make a mark and then connect the two points obtained. Cut along the line.
Next, you need to dig all 4 beams to a depth of about 0.5 m. The distance from the extreme points (it is considered with the width of 2 supports) between the left and right pillars is 1.5 m, and between the front and rear is 55 cm. After digging in, you need to make sure at the same height of the supports.
Assembling a garden arch
After the posts are dug in, you can proceed to attaching the front and back boards (1.9 m). From each edge of the two boards, focusing on the upper uncut part, it is necessary to step back 20 cm and put marks. Then attach these elements along the marks to the upper parts of a pair of front and a pair of rear supports. It is necessary to carry out the work carefully so that the upper edges of the boards and beams of the garden arch for flowers perfectly match in level.
Then the side boards are attached. The attached photos of the garden arch will allow you to see that the lower boards are located directly below the previously attached ones. There is no need to make any indents between the parts. First, from the edges of the boards, focusing on the upper part, measure 25 cm. According to these points, screw to the posts.
To complete the side battens, just look at the photos. On one side, rails of 1.5 m are attached longitudinally. Two to the posts, and two to the bottom board from the inside. The approximate distance between the slats is 15 cm. Next, the transverse slats are attached: at the bottom 4 pcs. 0.55 m each and 1 the same at the top. Between them are 4 small slats of 16 cm, as shown in the photographs. This procedure is repeated for the other side.
Upper crate
In order for a do-it-yourself arch for a summer residence to look attractive and be able to give a slight shadow, you need to make an upper crate for climbing plants. It is necessary to measure 11 cm from one edge of the upper boards. On 6 rails, 1 m long, measure 25 cm from the edges. Next, attach the first transverse rail at the marked points, measure to the next 30 cm, and attach it to the boards. Repeat for the remaining 4 rails. On top of the formed "ladder" in the middle, attach a rail 1 m long, nailing it to 2-5 rails.
DIY garden arches: photos and ideasTo decorate the garden, many small architectural structures are used, these are pergolas, trellises, trellises, lattices. All of them are designed for growing climbing plants, but differ appearance and perform different functions. Arch - a single structure consisting of walls and ceilings in the form of an arc or in the shape of the letter P.
Arches for the garden: functions and basic requirements
Surprisingly, these graceful designs, depending on their location, can drastically change household plot. With their help, you can create a romantic atmosphere, give the palisade a touch of mystery, aristocracy, or vice versa emphasize natural naturalness.
The arch can be as an independent element garden design, and a spectacular addition to landing compositions. It can also perform many other functions:
- provide support for plants;
- create an architectural style;
- reinforce and support load-bearing poles (if located above the gate or gate);

- can serve as the basis for a children's swing or hammock;
- used for lighting instead of lampposts (at the entrance to a park or garden) or as a place of rest, if a bench is mounted nearby or directly on the arch supports.
Requirements for a garden arch
Since the arch is a multifunctional structure, the requirements for it are high. First of all, it must be:
- made of high quality durable material, which will ensure its resistance to any weather conditions;
- aesthetic, both entwined with plants, and without them. Especially effective in winter period looks like a decorative iron arch or pergolas along the paths.
- made in accordance with the growth of all members of the family, taking into account the margin for sagging stems of flowering and fruiting plants.
Arch in the garden: materials and their characteristics
It depends on the appearance, dimensions, as well as load-bearing materials, how harmoniously and naturally the arch will fit into the garden. Outwardly, these may be the most unusual solutions from the simplest rectangular shape to an elegant openwork design.
But in order for them to harmoniously fit into the style of the palisade, it is necessary to build them of the appropriate size. There are no special rules in this regard, however, in landscape design when decorating a medium-sized area, an arch 1500 mm wide, 2500-3300 mm high and 500-700 mm deep is used (depending on the varieties of plants chosen for decoration).
Usually, plastic, brick, metal and wood are used for the manufacture of arched structures.
Plastic
The easiest way is to buy and install a PVC arch on the site. But, even despite the economy and variety of colors and shapes, it can last for a relatively short time, and the level of its stability leaves much to be desired.
Such arches are used only as decorative elements, for decoration and zoning, they are not suitable as supports for benches or pergolas for relaxation. In addition, they have to be removed for the winter, since plastic can burst in severe frosts, and the problem is that they cannot be placed in close proximity to the barbecue or outdoor stove.
brick and stone
These materials are the most durable. Of course, everyone can make a rectangular brick arch using the drawings and facing brick, but really unusual specimens that can be called an architectural miracle can only be done by a true professional.
Arches made of bricks can be so original in themselves that framing of plants and flowers is not required to emphasize their beauty. For example, a stone arch above the entrance gate or the central path looks very impressive. Also, such an element of decor is ideal to emphasize a garden pond or flower bed.
Wood
The best way to make an arch in the garden with your own hands. arch from natural wood the easiest way to fit into any style. You can also pick up a garden set for it, or create a whole ensemble of arbors, trellises and fences.
The service life of this material is not very long, therefore, before decorating and installing, the wood must be treated with the antiseptic agent Stigma-D or Zobel and coated with a special paint, such as MGF Eco Fassade M690.
Metal
The steel arch for the garden is the most durable and reliable. It allows you to create extraordinary landing compositions that will delight the eye in both summer and winter. The easiest option is to fix the steel wire bent into an arc between the supports.
Modern design metal arches surprises with its diversity, it can be elegant patterned structures or massive structures with inserts made of wood or stone. And so that the structures do not corrode, their surfaces should be regularly looked after, primed special composition Biotex Effect and paint at least two coats of alkyd enamel, eg Tikkurila Miranol.
The main advantage of metal is its decorative effect. You can forge yourself with specialized equipment or order real masterpieces with chrome rose petals from blacksmiths.
The easiest way is to make an arch made of wood and metal with your own hands. Of course, even such a simple design will require certain financial and time costs, but as a result you will get a spectacular element of garden design.
Arch made of PVC pipes or wire and mesh
Against the background of the original arcuate arch, climbing roses, glycines, and clematis will look great. To work, you need only a few pieces of metal wire or pipes with couplings and a piece of mesh with plastic coated, it will be enough just to tie them to the supports.
Pipes can be used plastic and metal-plastic, for example, those that remain after the water supply or domestic sewage. After assembly, the surfaces should be treated with primer and coated with paint.
Wooden arch for climbing roses
Larch or cedar is best suited for erecting such a structure, since these types of wood are more or less resistant to atmospheric influences: precipitation and decay. Although if they are not at hand, you can use lumber from pine or spruce, having previously treated them with an antiseptic. In order for the arch to be securely installed, it is mounted on steel pin supports, all nodes are connected with screws or dowels.
Rustic wooden arch
Untreated wood is a material that allows you to create an arch in an unusual rustic style. For this purpose, straight-stemmed species are suitable: spruce, birch, fir.
For the base, it is better to use small round timber, with a diameter of 70-75 mm, braces are made from thinner branches with a diameter of up to 35 mm. Connect the parts with nails and screws. After installation, the surfaces are stained and varnished in natural colors, such as colorless PINOTEX CLASSIC.

There are photos of such landscape solutions in almost every specialized magazine. In addition, with the help of such flowering structures, you can also hide not very presentable outbuildings.
Species diversity
Arches for flowers in the country are two, and sometimes three or four vertical racks with a crossbar at the top. The form of the latter can be the most diverse. The main purpose of such structures on the site is to create a support for climbing plants, zoning space or creating places for recreation. Sometimes arches are arranged to decorate the entrance to the site.
The designs of these compositions have a variety of forms. The most popular are vaulted and trellis arches connecting two lattices. There are also trellis options, which are most often used for decorating wedding events, as well as pergolas - three-dimensional structures with repeating details.
Very easy to manufacture rectangular arches create the effect of a deep perspective in space. Bright accents such a composition can be given not only but also by lawns, gravel paths or flowers in a flower pot.
Sturdy structures with stone supports and a trellis vault braided with lianas make it possible to create original shady gazebos, inside which you can comfortably relax on a bench.
Today on sale you can find various options already finished arches. These are the most varied wooden structures- from complex to simple, inexpensive plastic or forged blanks. The latter, although they have a higher cost, however, due to thin, elegant lines are especially beautiful. They are very effective even when the plant has not yet completely braided the arch.
Selection Requirements
When deciding to buy a ready-made product or making a pergola with your own hands, the owner of the site must keep in mind some nuances. Firstly, the structure must be as strong as possible, since the total weight of climbing plants that rely on the structure can be significant.
In addition, this landscape element must be made of durable material, since it all year round natural factors such as rain or snow, sun, etc. In addition, like any decorative element, the arch should fit well into the overall space.
In addition, there are size requirements. The arch should have a height higher than a person’s height, so that it is convenient to pass under it without bending over. The width must also be made at least one hundred and twenty centimeters. This is due to the fact that for the arches in the country they grow strongly, and with narrow sizes there is a feeling of sloppiness and crowding.
materials
Their choice today is very large. It can be wooden planks, bars and gratings, plastered brick or plastic, even a vine. In large spaces, stone structures will look advantageous. A very popular option today is for flowers. You can buy forged structures in many stores selling products for the garden. Almost all of them are made of materials resistant to aggressive environments and coated with varnishes or paints that protect the metal from corrosion.
Some designs from designers can combine various options for elements. Much when choosing a material depends not only on the appearance and type of construction, but also on which plants are supposed to be used for braiding.
Choice of colors for the arch
After the design is installed, it's time to decorate it. To do this, you need to decide in advance which flowers to plant. For an arch in the country, it is more profitable to use a perennial climbing Chinese magnolia vine, clematis or a climbing rose. Wisteria, grapes or honeysuckle look good on the pergola.
Annuals such as sweet peas, hops, curly nasturtium and ordinary ivy are also quite suitable. You can choose other varieties. But at the same time, it is necessary that they be climbing plants with lush greenery and beautiful flowers, the lashes of which can grow up to three or four meters. It is important to correlate the choice with the climatic conditions of the area. This is especially true when planting perennials, since some plants require special conditions for a successful growing season.
flower care
Some climbing varieties, such as climbing roses or garden grapes, should be covered for the winter, as they are very sensitive to winter frosts and temperature changes. Plants are recommended to be planted as close as possible to the base of the arched structure.
At the same time, it must be remembered that perennials develop very slowly, therefore, in the first two years, their growth is slightly less noticeable. Therefore, you should not initially expect a special decorative effect. An arch for flowers in the country - made with your own hands or bought in a store - must be properly decorated with flowers. If the owner doubts his knowledge, then it is better to invite a specialist who will correctly select the plants and plant them. But if you have at least some gardening skills, decorating the arch with curly flowers will not be difficult. You just need to turn on the fantasy and arrange it to your liking, observing the agrotechnical requirements for the selected varieties.
You can, for example, plant annual climbing plants such as sweet peas or purple morning glory near perennials. Already in the first year they add brightness to the color of the elegant design of the arch. Another original version this garden structure are hanging planters or plants in pots - begonias, pelargoniums and petunias. So the structures will get a picturesque look, and, most importantly, the gardener will not need to wait until the planted clematis grow or. But when these plants are completely wrapped around the structure, the arch will become the most wonderful place on the site - beautiful and at the same time creating a shadow. When creating such a landscape structure, one should not forget about one important factor - the care and maintenance of an attractive view of the plants that braid the flower arch in the country.
DIY
Photos of these amazing compositions, pleasing to the eye, can be seen in many prestigious magazines. But one should not think that a flowering pergola or a trellis structure is the lot of the elite. You can, of course, buy an arch for your garden or dacha in a store, but if you want, then you can build it with your own hands. And, it should be noted that often the design, assembled independently, looks no worse than the purchased one. The main thing is to know
In the country for flowers, many use the simplest building materials that are at hand. It can be metal pipes, wooden poles or bars.
Beauty in your area is always more pleasant to create on your own. The arch can be placed both along the path and in the corner, separating the seating area with it.
Sequence of work
From wooden material making an arch is the easiest. To do this, you will need four or six pillars or bars with a height of about two meters and a width of ten centimeters. Installed vertically, they will become supports for the future pergola. To them it will be necessary to attach the side cross beams, and to the latter - the crossbars from edged board 20x200 mm in size.
Pillars must be installed in pre-prepared pits with a depth of 0.5 to 1 meter. The depth must be chosen depending on the type of soil: for loose soil, it should be greater. Be sure to use the building level to check the verticality of the installation. In order for the plants on the arch to grow well and tightly braid it, twine can be pulled between the pillars. And if you stuff slats between them with a lattice, then such a pergola will look especially beautiful.
Decoratively decorated flower beds or installed where necessary, flower arches in the country can significantly change general form plot, to place accents. Everyone can make their garden beautiful, cozy. We always strive to equip the territory of our stay with comfort, not forgetting the aesthetic side. For many of us, a dacha is not only a source of organic vegetables and fruits, but a place where the soul and body rest.
What is an arch for flowers
The arch is the oldest architectural element, relevant at all times, successfully used today by landscape designers. With its help, you can harmoniously zone the space, create an atmosphere of relaxation, comfort, give a touch of romance to the local area. Arches are installed at the entrance to the garden, they make out paths with them, they are combined with gazebos, placing tables and benches for rest inside.
The general perception of this decorative element largely depends on the type of construction, the material from which it is made. Strength, stability, along with an attractive appearance at any time of the year are the main requirements for the construction of arches. For their manufacture, wood, stone, plastic, brick, forged fragments, metal are used.
Do-it-yourself flower arches, photo:
The country arch can be of any shape: voluminous (pergola), trellis, consisting of many vaults, trellis - it all depends on your imagination. Forged structures look impressive, sometimes weaving plants should be thinned out so that the beauty of the work itself, the elegance of lines, can be seen.
When erecting this structure, it must be borne in mind that its height must be higher than human height, and its width must be more than 1 meter. In terms of size, modifications of the arch should look harmoniously against the background of the house and other buildings. A country arch for flowers can be easily erected with your own hands, we will look at some examples here.
General requirements:
- The material for manufacturing must be reliable, withstand the pressure of winds, snow, and other weather conditions.
- It should always look beautiful: in spring, summer, autumn, winter - it should look equally aesthetically pleasing with or without plants.
- Its size should correspond to the growth of all family members. The nuance that it will subsequently be braided with plants should also be taken into account when determining the dimensions.
Arches can be conditionally divided by shape, by material of manufacture, by purpose. They are rectangular, semicircular, triangular, in the form of canopies, etc.
We make an arch with our own hands
Arches made of brick or stone are the most durable. If anyone can fold a brick structure, then professionals will have to be involved in decorative masonry.
The simplest option could be a curved iron rod - a frame that will braid climbing plants. Any metal parts it is better to degrease first, and then cover with paint.
A wooden arch is more preferable for perennials, since in frost it does not become as cold as metal. If the arch consists of wooden fragments, then it is better to fasten them with galvanized materials. The tree harmoniously fits into any style, if desired, you can create a whole ensemble, including a gazebo, decorative fences, lattices.
A simple example of a wooden arch can be a structure consisting of stairs located opposite each other (elements resembling ordinary stairs), fastened at the top with a wooden jumper.
Flexible varieties of flowers or shrubs will look great on it. Over time, the stems of plants coarsen, woody, take the form that the arch sets.
A metal flower arch can be made from metal rods or rebar.
For load-bearing arcs, you can use reinforcement with a 10 mm cross section, for transverse fragments a little thinner - 6 mm. Two main arcs are made, and between them, to give rigidity and stability, crossbars are installed. These connections can be of various shapes: curved rings, snakes, cross-welded straight pieces of an iron rod. These fittings can be welded to the carrier using welding machine or securely screwed with flexible metal wire. They are located one after another - the distance between them is about 20-30 cm.
The depth of immersion in the ground is 40-60 cm. In the same way, a series of arches can be made, which will be located one after another. Subsequently, they will look like a flower tunnel.
For work you will need construction tools:
- pipe bender;
- hacksaw for metal;
- pliers;
- wire cutters;
- wire;
- roulette;
- a hammer;
- level;
- in some cases, a welding machine.
Sometimes it is quite difficult to achieve the same symmetry of the arcs, but this is not a big problem. Subsequently, this structure will be braided with plants, flowers, which will hide minor flaws.
How to make an arch for flowers with your own hands from plastic pipes? To achieve this goal, it is not necessary to be a specialist, it is enough to know the features of working with the material, to follow simple recommendations.
Take the correct measurements, calculate the plan for the future structure, first draw the arch on paper. The main structure consists of fragments of plastic water pipe that are connected with fittings. For reliable welding of parts, you will also need a special soldering iron with nozzles.
The process of creating such an arch:
- In accordance with the agreed dimensions, the pipe is cut into fragments.
- Adapters suitable in size (diameter) are selected.
- Docking points are degreased.
- The required parts are put on the nozzle of the soldering iron, heated to a certain temperature, and then connected to the adapters. Docking points can only be touched after the final cooling.
- If there is no "ironing", you can use a suitable glue. The outer surface of one part, as well as the inner surface of the adapter, are covered with glue. It is held for a certain time, after which the parts are connected and rotated a little.
- When all parts are securely fastened together, you can install the structure. In order for your arch to withstand gusts of wind, other natural “attacks”, depressions in the soil for it must be at least 40-50 cm.
- We put the arch, fill the installation sites with soil, carefully tamp.
It is better to clean plastic arches in a barn with the onset of winter, as frost has a devastating effect on the material. They are moisture resistant, more practical than wood or metal, which eventually rot or corrode.
The guarantee for the use of plastic pipes is calculated for approximately 50 years; such an arch can be made and installed relatively quickly. The low cost is also an added plus.
Flowers, plants for the arch
When thinking about what flowers to plant for an arch, the first thing that comes to mind is climbing roses. This garden design is very convenient for growing these flowers: it sets the desired shape for the shoots, the best way demonstrates the beauty, features of the variety. When choosing flowers, it is important to take into account the climatic features of the region, plant varieties, so that at any time of the year the arched structure looks attractive.
Suitable for this are annuals and perennials, which should be planted as close as possible to the base of the arch. Since perennials fully reveal their decorative qualities 1-2 years after planting, climbing annuals can be planted next to them - morning glory, sweet pea, kobe, nasturtium. You can hang a flower pot with ampelous petunias, begonias. Decoration with annual plants will help brighten up the waiting time, when either a climbing rose gains strength and grows in its permanent place.
Curly roses are considered classics of garden decoration, they are voluminous, have a rich color palette, have a magical aroma, they do not need troublesome care. The bush is planted at the base of the arch, and then the shoots are tied to the structure as they grow. Before winter, roses are covered with appropriate covering materials so that they do not freeze.
Before you make an arch with your own hands for flowers, think about the material for its manufacture. Roses, for example, are very sensitive to cold. So that the stems do not suffer from contact with cold metal, a plastic or wooden arch will be more appropriate for them.
Evergreen ivy is attractive with its lush emerald foliage, it is hardy, does not require special care, and will decorate your arch even in winter. It grows slowly, so before you wait for the result, you will have to be patient.

Clematis is not inferior to roses in its beauty, it is distinguished by dense long flowering until late autumn. Requires care, loves fertile soil, regular watering, top dressing. However, the end justifies the means. rich colors clematis are very beautiful. Some varieties have an amazing aroma. They need to be planted at a distance of 20-30 cm from the arch, not close.
Kampsis is a tree-like liana, characterized by an unpretentious character, fast growth.
In July, among the lush foliage, large bright orange and yellow "gramophones" appear, which delight the eye with their beauty until the first frost. In case of frosts above -20 ° C, it is necessary to cover with spruce branches, film or covering material - for reliability.
Honeysuckle - curly flowers for the arch, having a variety of colors, sweet aroma.
It blooms throughout the summer, grows on any soil, in partial shade or in the sun, has dense lush foliage. Some varieties, such as Henry's honeysuckle, remain green even in winter. You should know that the fruits of some species of this plant are poisonous.
Hops practically do not need care. It grows well in warm weather, stretching up to 10 meters, braiding the arched structure in just a year. This plant is attractive for its small yellow bumps, which are used to treat nervous disorders (infusions, decoctions). A decoction of hop cones has long been used to strengthen, hair growth, and also as a diuretic. Thus, hops planted near the arch will not only decorate your country cottage area but also provide health benefits.
Actinidia kolomikta is a winter-hardy vine that produces flowers by the end of May. The white flowers of this plant have an incredible aroma, somewhat reminiscent of lilies of the valley and lemon. The foliage is also noteworthy - young leaves are bronzed at first, then they turn green, begin to turn white at the tip, and then turn to crimson. With free pollination, actinidia can have fruits (probability 50-70%) that can be eaten. The green berries of actinidia are somewhat reminiscent of olives in appearance, they have a rich vitamin composition.
According to gardeners, bougainvillea is considered the best plant for shady areas. He likes a warm climate, abundant watering, fertile drained soil. Creeping shoots of this plant can reach 10 meters in length. It blooms profusely with white, purple, orange, crimson flowers, which may have different shape. From April to September, it needs phosphorus top dressing, which must be applied 3 times a month.

- wooden beam - section 10 x 10 cm, 5 x 4 cm;
- boards - section 7 x 4 cm;
- slats - section 4 x 2 cm; 4 x 1.5 cm;
- wood screws, anchor screws;
- pieces of asbestos-cement pipe - 4 pieces, 15-20 cm in diameter, 50 cm long;
- metal bases for supports;
- electric jigsaw or saw;
- screwdriver or a set of screwdrivers;
- sanding paper;
- cement M400;
- small-sized crushed stone;
- river sand;
- waterproof paint or yacht varnish.
How to make an arch:
1. The main wooden elements of the arch are made: from a bar 10 x 10 cm - support pillars (you will need 4 pieces of 200 cm each); from a bar 5 x 4 cm - transverse beams with curly edges (2 pcs. 180 cm each); from the board - longitudinal crossbars (2 pcs. 80 cm each), perpendicular crossbars (8 pcs. 120 cm each).
2. Prepare pieces of wooden slats for the arch lattice: short - 20 pcs. 80 cm, long - 8 pcs. 150 cm, side - 4 pcs. 150 cm.
3. Try on metal supports to the bottom of the arch pillars. If necessary, the timber is adjusted in size by sawing with a jigsaw.
4. All parts are ground, treated with moisture-resistant and antifungal impregnation, and dried. Cover with two layers of yacht varnish or waterproof paint and completely dry again. If desired, the arch can be painted after installation.
5. In the ground, using a drill or an ordinary shovel, dig 4 holes - 20 cm in diameter, about 35 cm deep. They should form a rectangle 1.5 x 0.5 m. which is loosely packed.
6 Install sections of asbestos-cement pipe into prepared pits. Fill pipe holes to the top cement mortar. The surface is leveled. Work is continued after two days, after the cement has completely solidified.
7. Anchor screws (you can also use ordinary screws with dowels) to the pipes protruding above the ground are attached to the metal supports for the arch pillars.
8. Wooden poles are fixed in the supports, also with the help of screws (with nuts). Check periodically the quality of the installation by level. If there are no special metal supports for the arch columns, you can strengthen them directly in the ground, after wrapping them with roofing material. In this case, the bars for the pillars are made 15-20 cm longer.
9. Two upper transverse beams with curly edges are attached to the posts with self-tapping screws. For strength, the arch pillars are fixed with diagonal and horizontal struts. Then eight upper longitudinal bars are installed.
10. A decorative square lattice for climbing plants is made from wooden slats on the sides of the finished arch.

Metal garden arch with round vault
What to prepare for work:
- metal profile (25 x 25 or 30 x 30 mm);
- steel rods (section ≈ 30 x 30 mm, length 30 cm);
- mechanical or automatic pipe bender;
- circular saw for metal or grinder;
- welding machine;
- fine gravel;
- river sand;
- cement M400-500;
- fine sandpaper.
How to make a metal garden arch:
1. The metal profile is cleaned of dirt, polished with sandpaper, degreased.
2. The following are made from the processed profile: 8-12 segments 45 cm long (arch beams), 2 segments 6.3 m long (arcs of the arch).
3. On each side, on both arcs, measure 1 meter. Make marks. With the help of a pipe bender, without affecting the marked sections of the edges of the profile, two semicircular arch frames are made.
4. All side rails are welded perpendicularly to one of the metal arcs at regular intervals. Then this frame of the arch with the crossbars is turned over, after which they are joined to the second and also carefully welded. As an additional decor, you can use ready-made forged elements.
5. Upon completion of work, steel rods are securely welded to the ends of both arcs of the finished arch.
6. Measure the distance between the support rods. Four holes are made in the ground for their installation, 45 cm deep, about 10-15 cm wide. They are filled with 15 cm of sand and gravel, moistened, tamped. Install the arch, after wrapping the rods with roofing material. Fill holes in the ground with cement mortar. Check the quality of the installation of the arch by level. Fix the supports until the cement hardens with spacers.
Light country arch made of plastic pipes
What to prepare for work:
- plastic pipe, section 20 mm;
- construction knife or hacksaw;
- plastic fittings;
- soldering iron with a nozzle "iron".
How to make a plastic garden arch:
1. From plastic pipes (polypropylene are the most convenient to use and durable), arch elements are cut. For the simplest single structure, you need: 2 segments for supports of 1.6 m each and 1 segment for a horizontal lintel, 1.5 m long. For an arch with an arched vault, you will need a lintel 2.4 m long.
2. Prepared plastic parts, alternately heating on the “iron”, are tightly connected with fittings. You can additionally fix the joints of the arch with any quick-setting glue.
3. The finished arch made of plastic pipes is buried in the ground, well rammed. If desired, you can strengthen the supports with cement, but given the ease of construction, this is not necessary.
