Dir 615 firmware ftp. Setting up DD-WRT for Domolink and IPTV
Initially, I was set to buy a router, since I have been buying different pieces of iron from this company for a very long time and have never been disappointed. But after looking at the Asus, they also push alternative firmware, and somehow it broke me off paying 3-4 thousand wooden ones for the router. In general, I decided to choose one of the ovs, although my attitude towards them has not been very good for a long time, but there was work and a bunch of working computers hung on it, and in principle I have nothing to load it with, except for a smartphone and client laptops. Before buying this router, I already decided in principle that I would definitely not use my native firmware, but put an alternative one. But still I decided to try to use my native one for a couple of days, setting up the Internet took no more than a couple of minutes, including waffles (wi-fi). Everything worked except for the waffle breaks on the smart when not used for a long time, later I tried to play over the network and it was already clear that it was time to flash the router, because the connection with the servers was interrupted stably, after 5-10 minutes. Although when connected via cable, everything became normal.
- The firmware procedure is as simple as possible.
- Download the firmware from here, choose your revision - dd-wrt
- Next, go to the admin panel of the native firmware (http://192.168.0.1/) in Firmware Update, select the previously downloaded firmware file and click update.
- After installing and rebooting the router, go to http://192.168.1.1/, and not as it was before http://192.168.0.1/
Everything is on the firmware, but one BUT may occur, which can slightly shake the nervous system. For example, it didn’t immediately get up for me, and the firmware recovery mode completely refused to start in the way described on various forums. It helped me in this case, as usual in such situations, the "poke method":
- 1. Turn off the router by pulling out all the cables (both power and LAN) from it.
- 2. Register a static IP address 192.168.0.2, mask 255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.0.1, DNS 192.168.0.1 in the network connection settings on the computer
- 3. Connect the computer and the router through the WAN port on the router.
- 4. Press and hold Reset on the router for 5 seconds.
- 5. Turn on the router (plug in the power).
- 6. Wait 5-10 seconds (in the case we need, the WAN indicator should appear, and the power indicator should blink orange).
- 7. Release Reset.
- 8. Go through the browser to the address 192.168.0.1
- 9. On the page that opens, click Browse and select the original firmware file for the router.
- 10. Select the original firmware file for the revision of the router and click send.
In my case, I had to suffer precisely because of 4 and 6 points.
All the identified problems that I noticed in a couple of days of using the router on native firmware were fixed with an alternative DD-WRT firmware, and a more functional and adequate admin panel appeared.
It also happens that someone's indicators stop working after an alternative firmware, but this is also solved by installing drivers, which I basically ... It still hangs sideways for me, although my indicators work.
First, a few notes on the models that came across:
- If you have D-Link Dir615 HW version E*, then first you need NECESSARILY reflash the router to firmware version 5.11RUB03beta02, which can be downloaded from the D-Link ftp server
- If you have D-Link Dir615 C2- it is first necessary NECESSARILY reflash the router to firmware version 3.03 RU B09, which can be downloaded from the D-Link ftp server
Internet access speeds are constantly increasing, equipment is being improved, its performance is growing, but for previously released devices, the access speed can be very modest.

You can find the latest firmware version for D-Link routers on the manufacturer's website http://ftp.dlink.ru/pub/Router/. It must be saved on the computer. To reflash the router, you need to go to the menu TOOLS, Firmware, FIRMWARE UPGRADE, using the button Browse specify the path to the firmware file and click Upload.
The D-Link DIR-615 router is widely used among users. Detailed information about it tells the page of the router. Based on this, it will be necessary and relevant to provide complete data on how the firmware is updated for this equipment. This model has good characteristics and is suitable for organizing a wireless connection at home. We can say with confidence about him - a combination of price and quality.
When you buy a router, the firmware will already be installed on it. Depending on the release date, this may be a new or obsolete release. It doesn't matter what software is installed in the box. If you adhere to the requirements for installing the latest releases, then simply update it before setting up the router. Similarly, if the equipment is used for a long time, and the update was not performed, the firmware may become outdated. In some cases, if internet outages occur, manufacturers recommend replacing the release with the latest stable one.
In general, experienced users advise to replace the software immediately for new equipment, but for devices that work stably for a long time, leave the old version, especially if there is no need to update.
It should also be noted that when updating, the instructions should be strictly followed. If you make a series of mistakes, then there may not be a way back, as a result, the router will turn into a brick. After downloading the new firmware version, all network setup data will have to be re-entered. If you are not completely sure that you will be able to perform these operations, you should not update the software.
In new firmware versions, a number of new functions are often found, network operation is more debugged, bugs have been fixed. In addition, changes are made to the design and ergonomics of the administration panel.
In order to determine the hardware version of the router, you need to take the device itself and turn it over. On the reverse side there will be a label that contains the necessary information. An example is shown in the image.
For this case, the information that is given after the word "Ver.:" will be needed. In the given example, this K1. Other options are allowed, for example, K2.
After the version is determined and remembered, you should go to the manufacturer's server. You can do this at the link ftp.dlink.ru/pub/Router/DIR-615/Firmware/ . There you need to select the desired version, in the example - "K".
Sometimes you have to go to subfolders.
A directory contains several folders. Usually these are old - previous releases, beta - versions of releases that have not yet been debugged. You will need to find a file that has the extension . bin. Its name will look like this: 20140711_1343_DIR_615K1_2.5.4_sdk-master.bin. the name lists which version of the router it is intended for, when it was created, and which firmware version is used. It is most often located next to folders.
You will need to copy it to your personal computer. The storage location is chosen arbitrarily, desktop or software catalog is allowed.
When the saving process is completed, you can proceed to the firmware update.
How to update the firmware of a D-Link router
Before starting the procedure, you should remember a few important rules.
- Check that the downloaded firmware version is correct for your router. You should double-check the revision on the box and compare it with the name of the software.
- Firmware update is done via cable only. Wi-Fi operation is strictly prohibited.
- The device cannot be turned off during flashing. You should also make sure that there is a constant connection to the network and power. Disabling them leads to irreparable results.
For the DIR-615 router, 4 different settings panel designs are allowed. Therefore, it will not work to give a universal instruction for everyone. The example will use the most common versions. Much easier when it comes to updating firmware on Tp-Link. It has completely identical panels and parameters.
First, connect your device to your computer with a network cable. A laptop is allowed. In the basic configuration there is a cable of small length. When a wireless connection was previously configured on the computer, it must be disabled. It is important that the connection is only through a cable.
After that, open a browser and enter the management section at 192.168.0.1. On the authorization page, enter a valid name and login key. They can be set by you when changing parameters or remain standard. admin and admin.
When the main page of the administration panel has loaded, look at its appearance, if it looks like the figure below, then you should go to the tab Advanced settings. There will be a button System. Opposite the inscription there are arrows to the right. You need a link Software Update.
If the design of the administration panel is in light colors, then you should select the item Set up manually. Further actions are performed similarly. Need a tab System, chapter Software Update.
In order to download a new firmware, you must select it on the computer. To do this, click the button Review…. In the specified directory, mark the file and click on Update. The update process will start.
We are closely following the process. While the update status is displayed, nothing can be touched. You should wait until the router reboots. On average, you should wait 4-5 minutes. After that, you can refresh the browser page. If the operation was successful, a new administration panel will appear and a suggestion to change the access data.
You can use the standard admin values or come up with your own. The main thing is that they are recorded in some place.
Automatic firmware update
If the Internet is configured on the router, then the update operation can be performed much easier. The router has an automatic update function. In this case, the device will automatically find the required firmware version and download it. An error with selecting the wrong file will be excluded.
In some cases, the update function may not be available in the router settings. Or the appearance of the firmware may differ from the one shown in the example. In this case, you must first upgrade to the latest version available on the server manually.
If there is a message, then you can click on the button Update. After that, you will need to confirm the operation with the button Yes.
Then a warning message window will appear. The update process will start. Similarly with the manual method, you will need to provide a new password. It is entered twice. Once indicates, the second - is confirmed.
After the update is completed, the appearance of the administration panel may differ. When flashing the D-link DIR-615/A model to release 2.5.20, the settings look like this.
In the new version, the update is available in the System tab, which is located on the left.
Users can start the process manually, or check for new versions automatically.
In this case, it is not entirely clear why changes are made to the design of the administration panel with each firmware update. There is no significant improvement in ergonomics, but the inconvenience is serious. It is much more profitable if one design option is created and bugs are fixed or functions are being debugged. Depending on the firmware version, the appearance and arrangement of elements may differ. Now you know how to update the firmware of the D-Link DIR-615 router.
The D-Link DIR-615 router needs firmware to eliminate the “bugs” of operation: device freezing, speed reduction, overheating. The article provides a step-by-step process for updating the factory firmware.
We will tell you how to update DIR-615, where to download the program and how to restore the stock firmware.
Why do I need DIR-615 firmware?
Firmware is software that is "sewn" into the microprocessor and controls the operation of the router. The components of the firmware are combined and subsequently it is written to the device's memory.
Why update the firmware
The manufacturer installs the original firmware, but in the process of using the router, instability is detected.
In addition, if the router is not the latest model, then the installed software is outdated. Because of this, security gaps appear: access to settings, wireless network, site blocking is open.
The updated revision of the firmware is designed to eliminate vulnerabilities and improve device throughput.
How to find out the version
In order for the DIR-615 update not to damage the device, download only the firmware that matches the router model.
As a rule, the standard information about the router is on the label of the device, indicated on the box and in the manufacturer's instructions (supplied).
The DIR-615 model is found in different revisions - K1, K2, zero. How to update the DIR-615 firmware, we will show on the example of the E4 assembly, version 5.10 Ru
