Heat guns on gas for garage. Heat gun for garage: electric, gas, diesel. We select the best option for a heat gun: video
heat gun- mobile or stationary equipment designed to quickly heat the surrounding area.
Most units work according to the principle of a fan heater, with the exception of infrared models, which do not heat the air, but the surfaces of objects.
By constructive device heat guns are divided into two groups - direct and indirect heating.
Direct-fired heaters do not remove combustion products from the room, so the warm air contains impurities of spent fuel. Guns with indirect heating are equipped with chimneys that remove harmful volatile substances outside the premises.
By type of energy source used There are the following models of heat guns:
- electrical;
- gas;
- diesel;
- multi-fuel.
Electrical Models, where the heating element is a heating element, do not create noise and do not pollute the air, but consume a large number of electricity.
it most uneconomical units, which limits their scope of operation. Devices are used only in electrified rooms.
gas guns- work from the liquefied bottled gas. The efficiency of the equipment approaches 100%, the air in a cold room heats up instantly. Direct heating models cannot be used for a long time in rooms without forced ventilation where there are people.
Diesel guns- work on solar. This is a reliable, cost-effective, fast-acting equipment. Flaw - high level noise, the specific smell of spent fuel. Just like gas models, they are available in two design options - with direct and indirect heating.
Multi-fuel guns work on waste oil, kerosene, gasoline, diesel fuel. A productive and durable type of heating equipment, widely used in car repair enterprises.
Important: all listed types of heat guns are started from the electrical network (including gas and diesel ones). Most metal garages are not supplied with electricity, which excludes the possibility of using equipment.
Especially for such objects gas units are produced with a built-in battery that can operate for 8-12 hours. Devices heat rooms up to 80 square meters. meters, consuming one bottle of Propane (10 liters). The battery takes a long time to charge - more than 5 hours, which is a minus of the model.
Which heat gun to choose for the garage?
Choosing a heat gun for the garage based on the following factors:
- type of structure (stone, metal);
- quality of thermal insulation (types of external and internal insulation materials);
- the presence (absence) of internal wiring;
- type of ventilation (if any);
- area of the room;
- types of work carried out indoors.
If repair and maintenance work is not carried out in the garage, then the heat gun is used for creating temperature regime at which the engine is started.
In this case, a simple direct heating gas gun, which will instantly raise the air temperature to the desired indicators.
In a warm room, it is easier to clean, perform simple work operations (wiping windows and bodywork, sorting tools, cleaning the interior, etc.). If there is no ventilation in the garage needs to be ventilated room within 10 minutes after the end of work with the direct heating unit.
It is used to heat the air and maintain a positive temperature for a long time. If the garage is used as workshops, an indirect heating unit is selected (with exhaust exhaust outside the premises). Electrical installation applied, mainly for defrosting surfaces, starting the engine, performing short-term work.
Technical characteristics and calculation of thermal power
Specifications heat guns are:
- power, kWt);
- air flow rate (m3/h);
- energy consumption per unit of time;
- dimensions.
For space heating with an area of 10 m 2, a unit with a capacity of 1-1.3 kW is chosen, for a space of 20 m 2 - 2.6 kW. These proportions are indicative. More accurate calculations are determined by a special formula, which takes into account the heat dissipation coefficients (K), the difference between the external and internal temperatures (ΔТ), the cubic capacity of the room (V).
Q- thermal power (kcal/hour):
where K (dispersion factor) choose from the list:
- 3,0-4,0 - simple buildings made of sheet metal or wood, not insulated from the outside or from the inside;
- 2,0-2,9 - buildings made of single brick masonry and a simple roof structure (without thermal insulation);
- 1,0-1,9 – a double-brick building with fragmentary thermal insulation (for example, floor and walls or roof and floor);
- 0,6-0,9 – brick garage with double thermal insulation around the perimeter.
To convert kcal/h to kW, multiply the result by a factor of 0.001163, or use the power conversion table.
The air flow rate of the guns used in the household area is 400-600 m3 / second, weight 5-20 kg. most comfortable compact cylindrical models are considered (they take up a minimum of space in a standard garage).
For many consumers essential have additional options that increase the functionality of the unit. This is the presence of a thermostat that turns off the gun when the desired temperature is reached, automatic electronic ignition of the burner, blocking work during accidental tipping, a flame control system, forced cooling, a carbon dioxide control sensor and other functions. Each additional option increases the cost of equipment.
DIY gas gun
An experienced foreman who has an understanding of the operation of gas distributors and safety principles (GOST 8.002-86, GOST R 54983) can build your own gun.
Design basis- regular gas-burner, extended with steel pipe suitable diameter. The holes of a standard burner are enlarged by boring up to 5 mm in diameter, and the gas supply hole (jet) - up to 2 mm.
To create a heat exchanger a smaller diameter tube is used, at one end of which a burner extension is inserted. All structural elements firmly connected with clamps.
A hole is cut in the heat exchanger and a tube is welded, supplying hot air into the room. The fan is fixed on the other side of the heat exchanger. On the last step a hole is drilled to ignite the gas, a valve is installed that acts as a reducer
Self-manufacturing of heating gas appliances always associated with risk the occurrence of a fire hazard situation, as craftsmen use improvised means as functional elements, and use artisanal technologies.
As a rule, heat guns of various configurations are used for drying objects under construction, heating production facilities of a wide profile, because these are powerful high-performance machines. But recently, many manufacturers have launched the production of small-sized devices up to 3-5 kW, so that numerous motorists have a garage heat gun on the farm, with which you can quickly heat small room.
The equipment of this class is an effective device for heating any room with the help of directed hot air. The efficiency of any heat gun reaches almost 100%. On sale there are such varieties of these products:
- Electric - they work for heating only when there is a household power supply.
- Diesel - the principle of operation is based on the combustion of fuel in the combustion chamber, followed by heating the air flow.
- Gas - the principle is similar to the second option, but they work on blue fuel, they are much more economical, because gas is cheaper.
Each type has its own specific features, advantages and small disadvantages.
Electrical
Electric fan heaters have the following advantages:
- small dimensions allow you to install the product in almost any room;
- full automatic control;
- silent operation;
- a fairly high level of fire safety.
The disadvantages include the high cost of electrical energy. In addition, the wiring must be checked before installing the heat gun so that it can withstand the stress of using such equipment. Devices must have overheating protection and automation to maintain an optimal constant temperature.
Diesel
These products have two types of heating: direct and indirect. In the first option, the room is heated by an air flow in which combustion products are present, so it is necessary to install forced ventilation. In the case of indirect heating, the heat gun has a design that allows combustion products to be removed from the combustion chamber through a special pipe, which is enough to be connected to a chimney pipe or a corrugated hose.
When a heat gun is chosen for the garage, it is necessary to think over and calculate all the options - take into account the volume of the room, how to draw a conclusion of the combustion products. Without a doubt, an indirect heating device is much better than an analogue with a direct heating method, when there is a danger of smoke in the entire room.
Experts include the following indicators to the merits:
- economical fuel consumption;
- heat guns of this class operate on one tank filling up to 14 hours;
- efficient heating of a garage of any size, even two floors.
The disadvantages are diesel fuel cost, and the smell of burnt diesel fuel leaves an unpleasant amber, which is not drawn out by any ventilation system.
Gas
Such guns in relation to diesel counterparts have a number of advantages:
- heat the room much faster;
- heating of this type is many times more economical due to lower gas consumption and cost;
- there is a sensor that reads the concentration of carbon dioxide;
- automation that controls overheating of equipment;
- propane or butane burns out completely - no need to install special exhaust systems, just the usual ventilation that is in every garage.
There is one, but quite a significant drawback: for the operation of the unit, you need liquefied gas bottle, which is not easy to get.
Advice! If there is no good ventilation in the garage, then all the options will not work for you, the heating of the room will not be carried out in in full due to frequent ventilation by opening the gate.
Choosing a heat gun
The main parameter when choosing a product is its power, excess power will wind up the meter in vain, and the disadvantage will simply not be able to provide sufficient heating to the garage. Experts, through measurements and various experiments, have established that 10 m 2 of any private garage can be heated with 1 kW of thermal power if the ceiling height is within 3 m.
Therefore, in the case when the area of \u200b\u200byour room is not more than 25 square meters. m, then you need to buy a device with a power of at least 2.5 kW, and given the severe frosts, it does not hurt to increase the power to 5 kW. In this case, it must be borne in mind that you will turn on the unit at full power only in exceptional cases. Which gun suits you - decide for yourself.
Garage insulation
Before installing any type of heater or fan heater, care must be taken to additional insulation garage, especially the gate: the less heat leaks, the longer the garage will maintain an acceptable temperature. Otherwise, the gun will work to heat the space surrounding the garage, that is, constantly.
Motorists should not forget that this room serves not only to shelter the car from weather disasters and thieves, but also for minor repairs and maintenance work. In especially severe frosts, when you decide to thoroughly warm up the room, condensation may form on the iron gate due to the temperature difference, which will negatively affect the metal.
The optimal temperature for high-quality storage of equipment in winter period is +5 0 C.
To qualitatively insulate the walls - use sheets of special foam or penoizol. The latter material is considered the most progressive type of insulation, it retains heat much better, is very similar to polyurethane foam in terms of thermal conductivity, but is much cheaper.
We insulate the ceiling in the same way, but for the gate there are several options:
- foam blocks - perfectly keep heat and do not absorb moisture;
- extruded polystyrene foam - has even better rigidity, perfectly retains heat;
- foil polyethylene foam - differs in that one side is covered with foil, it is used in combination with the first types of insulation.
During all work on insulation, it is necessary to solve the issue of better ventilation. For this you can do hood directly from the interior of the garage - direct access to the outside. A cement-asbestos pipe of standard diameter and size will suffice.
Features of using guns
Today it is electric fan heaters different kind and devices are considered the most popular for quickly heating the garage, although the condition of the wiring leaves much to be desired. Therefore, fire inspectors like to visit such public places use for drawing up acts on various violations.
It is no secret that the indirect cause of all fires in garages is the improper use of heaters. different kind from homemade to factory-made models. As a rule, the fault here is 100% of the users: before connecting an electric gun of any power, you need to consult with the specialists of the power grid. In addition, certain rules for the operation of products of any kind must be observed.
- After purchasing the equipment, it is necessary to let it settle in the heat for at least 2 hours.
- If this is a diesel version or a gas heat gun, purchased specifically for a garage insulated in advance, it is better to start them for the first time on outdoors to burn off the factory grease.
- Before turning on the electric version, it is necessary to check for the presence of condensate on the heating elements, and also inspect the grounding of the garage wiring.
- A used oil gun is checked for foreign objects in the fuel tank before fuel is filled.
- When using a chimney, it must have good draft and a minimum of bends.
- When connecting the gas gun, check all connections for leaks, otherwise the first inclusion may be the last.
Install the device only on a flat surface, the distance from the outlet nozzle to walls or other objects is at least 3 m, 0.5 m is enough on the sides, and 1.5 m on top. room.
As for the cost: diesel devices are considered the most expensive: their price is from $ 200, gas ones are in the middle position within $ 150, and electric options are from $ 50. Having done right choice, you will forget about frozen hands and an engine that does not start from the cold for at least six months - it will be comfortable to work in the garage, even though there are severe frosts outside the gates.
For most motorists, with the approach of cold weather, the question arises of how to heat the garage. One of the ways to achieve a comfortable temperature are heat guns, in fact, powerful fan heaters. The heat gun consists of a heating element and a fan. Thanks to cylindrical shape case, the air passing through the heating element reaches a high temperature, and powerful fan allows in short time heat the air in the room.
Heat guns got their name because of their shape. Made in the form of a pipe mounted on a wheeled platform, they resemble cannons of tsarist times. The presence of small wheels makes it easy to move these heaters from one room to another.
First of all, you need to calculate the power of the heater. User experience suggests that for heating 25 cubic meters garage, you need 1.5 kilowatts of gun power, despite the fact that the temperature "overboard" will be about zero degrees. If the temperature reaches 10 - 15 degrees below zero, then two or even three times more power will be required.
Having correctly calculated the power of the heater, we select the appropriate heat gun for garage
In order to understand which heater for your garage fit better All you need to know is:
- how many resources the device will consume, and their cost;
- how long people will work with the warm apparatus turned on;
- how fireproof is this unit;
- Is the garage insulated, and how well.
How to determine desired power heat gun
This is the most important and difficult point when choosing a heat gun. It is necessary to determine how much power will be enough to maintain a comfortable temperature in the garage at a given outside temperature.
To do this, you can use a simple ratio: 0.8-1.4 kW of heat output per 10 m 2 of the garage area (with a ceiling height of 2.5 m). That is, for an average garage it is enough to take a gun with a power of up to 3 kW (and if you need a reserve in case of severe frosts - up to 5 kW), and a comfortable temperature will be provided in it. However, powerful heat guns create significant stress on the wiring, which can turn into trouble.
For a more accurate calculation, you can use a simple formula:
Q = Vxt1-t2xkx0.1 163
Where V- the volume of the room, t1- required room temperature, t2- outdoor air temperature, k- coefficient of thermal insulation of the walls of the room. Multiplication by 0.1 163 is necessary to obtain a numerical value expressed in kW (since the amount of heat expressed in calories is derived from the formula, and 1 kW / h is equal to 860 kcal / h).
Thermal insulation coefficients for various materials derived experimentally, and they are approximately the following:
– Garage from simple wooden planks or metal — k=3…4;
- Brickwork in one row with thermal insulation of medium thickness - k = 2 ... 2.9;
- Brickwork in two rows with good thermal insulation - k=1…1.9;
- High-quality thermal insulation of walls and roofs — k=0.6…0.9.
So you can calculate the required thermal power of the gun for any type of room. However, as already mentioned, guns can be used for garages at the rate of up to 1.4 kW per 10 m 2 of area, and in most cases this will be more than enough.
Types of heat guns
Electric heat guns
A heat gun, the main resource of which is electric current, is similar in principle to a conventional hair dryer. The heating element, in most cases, the heating element, and the dimensions of the apparatus are slightly larger than those of a household hair dryer. An electric garage heater is powered by a standard single-phase network, however, a gun with a power of five kilowatts and above is connected to a three-phase network. The device has a temperature switch that controls the device, turning it off if the temperature in the garage has reached the required level, and vice versa. Before purchasing this heater, you need to make sure that electrical wiring in the garage, will be able to withstand the load consumed.
pros electric gun:
- Relatively small size of the device;
- Low noise level during operation;
- No open fire.
Cons of this type of gun:
- High cost of electricity;
- The need for power or high-quality wiring in the garage.
Gas heat guns.
Gas heat gun, as the name implies, runs on liquefied propane-butane gas. The use of such a heater provides for the presence of a gas cylinder of any volume. The principle of operation is that a gas burner is installed inside the cylindrical tube of the gun, which ignites the gas and heats the air. A powerful fan allows you to quickly distribute hot air throughout the garage. These heaters have a piezo element for easy ignition. All gas guns are direct combustion heaters, and do not have the ability to remove exhaust gases from the room. Although guns of this type consume gas economically and emit not so many combustion products, it is still necessary to take care of ventilation in the garage. For ventilation, you can ventilate the room from time to time, but in this case, heat will also leave the garage with the exhaust gases.
Interesting: Working at a power of 10-15 kilowatts, in 60 minutes a gas heat gun will use up half a liter of gas.
Advantages of gas heat guns:
- Economical gas consumption;
- Due to its low weight, it is easy to transport to other rooms;
- Compact dimensions allow you to put it anywhere;
- High performance, help to quickly heat the garage;
- The presence of a carbon dioxide concentration sensor.
Disappointing nuances of operation:
- A gas cylinder is required;
- Need quality work ventilation;
- Noise at work;
- The presence of a flame does not allow the device to be left unattended.
The main fuel of diesel heat guns is diesel fuel, or diesel fuel. For the operation of this heater, it does not matter what quality of diesel fuel, so it is especially convenient for those who have access to cheap fuel. Working on diesel fuel provides for the presence of a fuel tank, and this increases the mass of the unit. On average, a twenty-liter fuel tank is enough for 10-15 hours of operation, while the thermal power will be approximately 30 kilowatts. Diesel guns are essentially the most powerful compared to other types.
Diesel heat guns are divided into two types: with direct and indirect heating.
- Direct combustion. The principle of operation of a direct fired gun is similar to a gas heat gun. Fuel through the pump is supplied to the combustion chamber, where the air is heated and dispersed through the garage with the help of a fan. The products of combustion also remain indoors and require ventilation.
- Indirect combustion. In this case, diesel fuel also burns in the combustion chamber, only the chamber itself does not directly contact with environment, and transfers energy through a heat exchanger. A special exhaust pipe is provided for the removal of exhaust gases. Although oxygen is still needed for the combustion process, it will not be necessary to ventilate the room so often.
Advantages of diesel heat guns:
- Low fuel consumption;
- Thermal efficiency 100%;
- Safety of use;
Disadvantages of these guns:
- For direct combustion guns, this is the emission of exhaust gases into the garage;
- Indirect combustion units cost twice as much;
- The presence of a chimney opening for guns with indirect combustion;
- High noise level;
- The weight of the device is about 20 kilograms;
Combined heat guns.
In order to be able to constantly work in the garage, guns can be combined. Initially, to warm up the room, you can use a gas heat gun, and to maintain the temperature, use a diesel one with indirect combustion. In this case, you do not need to constantly ventilate the garage, and at the same time maintain a comfortable temperature. However, this method has one big drawback - the cost of acquiring two guns.
Based on the above advantages and disadvantages, the following can be seen. The use of electric guns is convenient and safe in the sense that they do not require additional conditions, such as a fuel tank or cylinder, an air supply system or a chimney in the garage. However, the productivity of such heaters is quite low, and energy consumption is high. In addition, with a weak electrical circuit, it is unlikely to be able to do welding and heating at the same time. It's still not safe.
Gas heat guns are more productive, but the consequence of their work is the presence carbon monoxide in the garage. And since the garage is usually not a very large room, the concentration of carbon dioxide will be higher and it will be more tiresome to ventilate the room. If this is not done, then the process of poisoning the body occurs. Therefore, for heating a garage, a gas heat gun is not the best option.
Diesel heat guns are "above all praise." Although they have the largest dimensions of all the guns, there is still a place in the garage to install this unit. Of course, the high cost of an indirect combustion gun is its disadvantage, but productivity covers all the shortcomings. Such a gun allows you to safely heat the garage without harming the health of the owner. It is fireproof, since the fuel, igniting, does not come into contact with the environment. On it, like on any other gun, you still can’t dry things and gloves. It also requires 220V power to operate, but it does not require a power line or high quality wiring. Electricity is needed to operate the fan, and any electrical network can handle its power consumption.
Do you want to create in the garage optimal conditions for work? Would you like to maintain the required temperature? Then a modern thermal one will definitely come in handy for you.
It is good equipment that allows you to provide an optimal climate in the garage. Of course, when it is warm there, it is much more convenient and easier to work, carry out technical inspection and carry out car repairs. At the same time, the efficiency of work increases dramatically. It is important to correctly determine which type of heater suits you best. Heat guns for the garage can be diesel, electric and gas, in addition, they have different power. To make it easier for you to determine for yourself the most best option, you should understand the features of each type of heat gun. Let's consider the main points.
Please note: heat guns are usually not used all the time. They are simply turned on when you have to be in the garage for a long time. The device heats the room in a short time, after which the optimum climate is established there.
Our climatic conditions are quite harsh. Of course, at such low temperatures, which last for a long time, the heat gun becomes simply an indispensable device for heating the garage.
If speak about design features, the device of a heat gun, it can be roughly compared with hair dryers that women use to dry their hair. The device has the following elements: housing, thermostat, fan with heater. Since the heating speed comes to the fore, a more powerful fan is usually installed to increase it. It creates a directed air flow passing through the heating element. This heated air comes out, and instead, the fan draws in a new portion of air masses.
It is noteworthy that in the garage, the heat gun must be mobile so that it can be easily and quickly moved to the right place. Then it will be more convenient for the motorist to use it, if necessary, roll it.
We determine the optimal parameters
It is very important that the garage heat gun suits you optimally in terms of all the main characteristics. To do this, you should consider the parameters more carefully, you need to navigate them. Then it will not be difficult for you to choose a heating device that is ideal for you.
First of all, it is necessary to determine the optimal power, the type of gun. The following parameters are taken into account:
- the level of thermal insulation in the garage room;
- the total area of the garage;
- the mode of finding people in the garage.
Also be sure to consider what type of heating device is suitable. Guns can be electric and gas, diesel and combined.
The main types of heat guns
Let's pay attention summary the main options for heat guns for heating the garage.
Experts note that a thermal gas gun is well suited for heating a garage. However, it cannot be used constantly, kept active for a long time with a crowd of people. She simply warms up the garage, and then turns off the device. This is the only way to ensure safety, since the gas gun is a direct heating device. It is worth noting the good level of efficiency of the gas gun. Just half a liter liquefied gas it will take the gun to work an hour.
The principle of operation of a diesel heat gun is interesting. It allows you to eliminate all combustion products, taking them out of the garage with the help of an exhaust pipe. This provides a comfortable, absolutely safe environment for people inside the garage.
The electric heat gun is very popular. For example, you can choose a model with a thermostat, simplifying the operation of such a device to the limit. Then it will be enough just to plug it into the outlet, press start. And the thermostat itself will support the optimal heating mode. True, two significant problems can arise during the operation of an electric gun. One is overload. electrical networks, since in garages they usually do not differ in reliability. In addition, such heating will become costly, as you will have to pay a lot for energy.
Determine the required power of the heat gun
Here you will need to arm yourself with the minimum knowledge of mathematics that you have from school. You have to determine exactly what power is needed to maintain the optimum temperature in your garage.
This is the ratio offered by experts: 1.4 kW of device power per 10 square meters garage area. At the same time, the height of the ceiling is conventionally considered 2.5 meters.
For example, if we are talking about a standard garage, a gun with a power of 3 kW is quite enough to heat it. If the frosts are strong, it is desirable to provide a heating power of 5 kW.
Electric heat guns
To begin with, let's take a closer look at electric fan heaters. It is these heaters that are most widely used, trusted and popular. First of all, it is important to note that a lot of electricity is spent on the operation of such a device. Of course, the power consumption while maintaining the desired temperature in the garage should be much greater than when working in the room. When the power exceeds 5 kW, it is already necessary to provide power from a three-phase type network, where the voltage is 380 V.
The principle of operation of such a device is quite simple. Electricity passes through a conductor with increased electrical resistance, which is placed in a protective housing tubular type. Such a system is called a heating element. The heat is then transferred to the room due to the operation of the fan, which blows the heating elements with air currents.
If we talk about the efficiency and functionality of electric heat guns, it can be noted that their efficiency is not so high. When the conditions in the room are extreme, there are serious surges in pressure, humidity levels and temperature, such devices are not very suitable. Their productivity is lower than that of gas and diesel guns. But the consumption of electricity is high.
gas appliances
A gas gun for a garage pleases with efficiency, but it cannot be called for sure. Still, during the operation of such a device, combustion products that are harmful to health are inevitably released.
Gas guns are attracted by relative efficiency, good heating power. However, from an environmental point of view, such units are questionable. During combustion, toxic substances are released. If you organize ventilation, heat will leave the room.
Diesel heat guns
Interesting modern solution for heating - a diesel heat gun for the garage. She works on solar. Fuel enters the combustion chamber through the fuel pump. Heating will be quite economical, but it is necessary to take care of the removal of all combustion products.
Fuel is available, allows you to efficiently spend money. At one gas station, a diesel heat gun can actively function for 15 hours. Diesel units are indirect and direct heating.
Choosing a heater: highlights
Be sure to remember the basic rules according to which you need to choose a heater. First of all, it is important to determine the type of heating device. It can be direct or indirect action.
Direct action provides fast, but toxic combustion products enter the air. The burner of such a device is open. It is dangerous to use it in a closed garage, as good ventilation is required.
If the action is indirect, the burner is closed. An interesting option- Infrared heater. In it, with the help of a burner, a plate is heated, which, in turn, emits heating rays. Infrared heaters have a wide coverage angle, so they easily heat large garages. But the price of such a device is higher.
When choosing a unit for heating a garage, pay attention to the following parameters:
- fuel consumption;
- coverage angle;
- fuel tank volume;
- Operating temperature range;
- sizes.
Additional features are also important. For example, a heater may have a control panel and a thermostat, a security system and automatic ignition. It is good when the desired temperature is automatically maintained.

- Power
- First we need to decide on the required power of the gun. These indicators depend on two main criteria:
- cubic capacity (volume) of the garage;
- The specificity of thermal insulation.
If everything should be clear with the first two components of the formula, then the dispersion coefficient needs to be clarified. Conventionally, 4 ranges of indicators can be distinguished:
- K=0.6-0.9– true for a garage of improved design and high thermal insulation. The walls are made of bricks, the insulation is double, the base of the floor is thick, the roof is made of high-quality heat-insulating material.
- K=1.0-1.9– suitable for a garage of standard design and medium thermal insulation. Double brick walls, standard roofing material used.
- K=2.0-2.9– corresponds to a garage of a simplified design and low thermal insulation. Single brick walls, simplified roof structure.
- K=3.0-4.0- true for a garage without thermal insulation. The structure of the room is made of wood or corrugated metal.
If you understand, then everything is extremely simple. Let's give an example by calculating the power of a gun for a hypothetical garage. We believe:
V= 5 m (width) x 6 m (length) x 2.5 m (height). Therefore, the cubic capacity of the garage is 75 m3.
∆T= -20°C - average outdoor temperature in winter, +18°C - required temperature in the garage The difference between them is +38°C.
K = 1.We apply the formula: 75 x 38 x 1.5 \u003d 4,275 kcal / h. We translate into kilowatts: 1 kW \u003d 860 kcal / h, multiply 4,275 kcal / h by 1 kW and divide by 860 kcal / h. We round up and get 5 kW. That is, a heat gun with a maximum power of 5 kW is suitable for heating our garage. It will allow you to work in the garage even in severe frosts.
- Electricity, diesel or gas
- A gas heat gun is a powerful, fast and economical device (only 0.5 liters of liquefied gas per 10-15 kW). But since it belongs to the type of direct heating, it is not suitable for heating a room with people constantly in it. This is due to the accumulation of combustion products, the inhalation of which will lead to poisoning. Constant ventilation of the garage will cause the loss of accumulated heat and nullify the entire operation of the gun. Conclusion: without a built-in ventilation system, it is impossible to constantly heat a garage room with a gas gun.
The diesel heat gun is equipped with an exhaust pipe, therefore, the risk of poisoning by combustion products is excluded here. The advantages include the democratic cost and safety of fuel, as well as the economy of its consumption (on average, about 10-12 hours of operation at one gas station). Thanks to its excellent power optimal choice for large space.
An electric heat gun attracts with ease of use, reliability and safety. It is enough to turn on the device, and it will work completely without your participation (especially in models with a thermostat). However, there are also significant disadvantages:
- First, when buying, you need to make sure that the power lines are able to withstand the load. The range includes models for both the "standard" voltage of 220 V, and devices for voltage networks of 380 V.
- Secondly, the large power consumption of expensive electricity. Low cost option.
- Stationary or mobile
- The stationary type gun is distinguished by its power and economy. A great option if you want to heat only one room with it and do not plan to drag it anywhere. The mobile model is more versatile, it can be carried - it is equipped with handles and is also quite compact, so it is most suitable for a garage.
- Comfort
- When choosing, it is also important to consider at what distance from people and objects the gun will be placed. Therefore, the following characteristics are important:
- Air flow rate. For the most popular models, it starts from 400 m3 / s;
- Air flow temperature.
- Voltage
- Models for a standard 220 V network (diesel and gas, as well as low-power electric heat guns) will not raise questions. But for devices with a voltage of 380 V, a three-phase connection is already required.
- Safety
- Security cannot be neglected. Ideally, if the model you like meets the following requirements:
- The case is made of durable material that can withstand the effects of the external environment for a long time;
- The design includes a thermostat. It will reduce the risk of overheating;
- There is an automatic shutdown function in case of rollover;
- There is a flame control system;
- Forced cooling provided. For electric heat guns - heating elements, for diesel - combustion chambers. Note that spiral heating elements are considered safer, and ceramic ones are the least.
- Additional functions
- As a rule, in heat guns there are several stages of power adjustment (full and half), and it is also possible to operate in fan mode. If this is not enough, then some manufacturers offer models with a three-stage adjustment. Other handy features and specifications include:
- Maintaining the set temperature in auto mode;
- Thermostat connection;
- Electronic ignition (instead of using a piezoelectric element);
- Long network cable (for example, not about 2 m of standard length, but 5 m or even 10 m);
- Carbon dioxide control sensor (in a gas heat gun).
- External characteristics
- The external data of the heater also cannot be neglected. Of course, it is not so much aesthetics that comes to the fore (their shape is standard - rectangular or cylindrical, and the paint used is highly resistant), but the size of the gun. For use in the garage, give preference to compact models. Their weight varies within 5-10 kg, and dimensions - 30-50 cm.
